**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S23 Family Thread ****

I really wish they would implement something like Photographic Styles on iPhone where you can adjust how your photos are taken as default (on auto mode anyway)

I'm generally always turning the brightness down on my shots so would be nice to just get that down without touching anything other than shutter button.

Click the wand on the top right in normal photo mode. Set up your style in there and it will always use that long as the wand is yellow to denote a style is being used. Thsi has been a thing for years on Samsung phones.

That works differently though, just get the standard warm, cool, etc modes that you can tweak with 1 to 10 slider.

Making your own filter just involves picking a photo you like and it generates a similar one for you but to be fair I can just use the Pro mode and leave everything on auto apart from EV.

Oh you want to always have a lower exposure in auto mode? That's never been possible in auto mode on any Android phone, and isn't possible in auto mode on even a DSLR in auto mode etc either.. You'd have to ideally use one of two methods:

1: Use Pro mode and set the settings to remember to remember the last mode used, so pro mode always loads when camera is launched. You can then set AV/TV to auto and just have a negative EV bias.

2: Keep normal photo mode and just tap the screen where you want to meter off and move the EV slider. It's two extra steps but is 2nd nature.

Besides, with the new sensor you should not need to take pics with lower EV anyway as HDR and dynamic range work even better this time round. What is the use case for needing a negative EV in auto mode? I know Apple's camera modes are a hybrid of auto and manual - Whereas Android distinctly separates them into two modes.

I also have to pull the EV down in auto to make photos not look over exposed and washed out. The lock allows you to keep exposure into the next pic but unfortunately if you have to re-focus tap the screen the lock disappears and you have to pull EV down again.

So again please, what's best cover for this phone and screen protector too?
Phone is gonna have to last me 3 years like my last one did, so want to protect it for the duration as best I can, nothing fancy graphic wise, its a plain black S23 Ultra, just something practical and protective, screen film protector too please.

Already tried and dumped a generic transparent cheap cover and screen protector from Ebay and that was pure and utter tripe, papered to spend an appropriate amount to buy of similar quality of the phone itself that befits it, case and screen protector please.

Thanks :)

There is no "best" cover, it's all personal preference and if you buy from one of the more known brands you will get the protection needed, of course with more extreme protection the price rises too.

What sort of environment is your phone going to be exposed to? Do you prefer a light or hard case? Do you need one with a kick-stand etc?

As for screen protector I've been using the tempered glass from IMBZBK which has been perfect so far. If you want to protect it as best you can then a film protector wont do that by your definition.

I have the old faithful that's basically been on every phone since S7 Edge, Spigen Rugged Armour model. Happy with it as always protected phones well in the past.

For screen protector I ordered Milomdoi [3+3 Pack] for Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra as had good reviews (including Fakespot) and £12.99 for 3 with 10% voucher on top. Haven't had a chance to fit it yet though, never actually had screen protectors so see how I get on and if maybe want to go tempered glass in the future.

EDIT: I see that Spigen actually do camera protectors that would work with cases, anyone tried them? Not sure if little excessive but my S21U did have a small scratch on one of the lenses, luckily didn't affect anything.

I'm finding with the camera view before taking a picture it's a bit grainy, but then then picture comes out much clearer? Appreciate the processing but the before is quite different. On standard settings with 12mps

Yeah pretty sure my wife's S23 charging port is borked. You can see some faint darker marks on the flat bit inside the port, possibly burn marks from a shorting. Samsung picking up tomorrow.

Wonder what's happened there, or how it's happened?

What charger/cables have you been using?

I noticed that too when I first got the phone but after the last update it doesn't seem to be as obvious unless I've just got used to it...

I must say that i m not very excited with the camera in s23 ultra. There is oversharping of teh pictures. This, when photographing animals is really a problem and makes the photos harsh and ugly. Not impressed.

Get the camera assistant app and play around with the sharpening options
