**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S23 Family Thread ****

Yeah the S23U may not look like an upgrade and many youtube reviewers are saying if you have the S22U don't upgrade but I don't agree (but I did have a couple of niggling issues with the S22U)
The S23U is a fantastic phone, the battery efficiency is crazy, I lose about 1 -2 % battery overnight and the reception in my area is definitely better than my previous Exynos phones, the speed in which it connects to a call is definitely quicker also.
I think this one is a keeper for sure.

Just out of interest has anyone got the Spigen Optik Armor case and if so is it worth buying? I don't want to put camera glass protectors on.

With those settings on, it should show, bt you might have a different lockscreen style enabled too, screenshot of your lockscreen itself?

Mega picture, what tweaks if any did you perform in Samsung Lightroom?

It's a custom set of development presets that synchronised over from my Lightroom on desktop - I've built them up over the years for specific things and adjusts lots of different areas of the development module from tone curve subtleties to low level detail and highlight/shadows control with the end aim being to get a cinematic image as best as possible without making it look like it's gone through some sort of Snapchat filter or something.

Here it is, I've played with one other setting with AoD and show for new notifications but I don't want always display on(!). That seems to make it work to wake up the screen but then AoD just stays on.

If you go to Settings > Lock screen, then check the following:

What's the point of dual SIM?

1 SIM for DATA 1 SIM for calls?

Foreign SIM and UK SIM?

2 different numbers on 1 phone?

I have 2 phones right now, 1 on GiffGaff and my S23 on Lyca. Should I just put the GG SIM into the S23? How will WhatsApp work when there is 2 numbers on 1 phone? If someone calls either number the S23 will ring?

Yes.

You specify which is the default SIM for calls/data and set this as a Primary and the second sim as secondary.

Both can have cellular service active in tandem, data needs to be toggled between the two.

If you have WhatsApp already set on Lyca it will continue to do this unless you specifically switch your WhatsApp to a different number (your GG)

Oh, so its actually Samsung Expert RAW > Full fat desktop Lightroom > Export to JPEG

Does anything edit Samsung RAW files on the desktop that I can use for free or under £50?

No I think you're confusing something there!

The exact same Lightroom adjustments apply between both Lightroom mobile and Lightroom desktop, there is no difference. Lightroom for Samsung is the exact same application, it's just integrated into Expert RAW's preview screen to go directly into it, there are no other editing differences. You can literally take a RAW edited image from Lightroom mobile and import it into Lightroom desktop and you willl see the exact same results because everything is the same, and vice versa. The whole idea of Lightroom on mobile is that photographers can edit and export their images the same way as on desktop without breaking workflow. And then those images are cloud synchronised back to desktop if the feature is enabled.

Samsung RAW files are not Samsung specific, they are RAW the same way any other camera RAW file is, and they are stored in the universal Adobe DNG format. Any RAW editing software will edit them, Google Photos for example can edit RAW files too.

Ah, I didn't know it was so integrated

I keep pressing something by accident in my pocket that launches the Bixby setup process. Have requested to leave Bixby but it happened again, something I'm missing?

Asked a bunch of times already I'm sure but what screen protectors people happy with?

Came back from a holiday and while treated it with kid gloves, already some tiniest of scratches on the screen and this might be a keeper for me for at least 2 years.

Always a relief to get the 'trade in complete' email.
Looking on an Android Central forum a lot of people in the US are having their trade in devices rejected because of damage even though they say they were undamaged when they were sent.
So what happens next for them? I'm sending a very old android phone which has a custom rom. It works but I wonder if that's gonna be a problem.

From what I've heard about this over at XDA, a call to Samsung support is all that's needed to sort it out. As it sounds like the trade in company dealing with this is trying it on.

A custom Rom might be another issue all together though, you'd have to look at the trade in terms, regarding whether the trade in needs to be manufacturer stock.
