I could have phrased it better. If you want to flash the latest 4.4.2 Samsung based rom they'll want you to flash the locked bootloader first, which you may not want to do for the KNOX reasons and it's a one way deal.are you absolutely sure about that?
Flashing 100% stock ROMs as far as I understand it (as in stock samsung) will flash a knox enabled bootloader but not if you flash a tweaked non stock ROM with a cleaned up bootloader, such as CM11 or (as I have) Jamals Google Experience ROM (which is basically a pre rooted slightly tweaked version of the play edition).
You don't get bootloaders in CWM roms, they're Odin flashed. For non-Samsung roms, AOSP etc, they don't need the locked bootloader anyway. GE 4.4.2 will work on the old bootloader, but won't charge when switched off without the locked one. Oh and you might still run into a few issues with later LTE modems on all of them.
