*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Hi guys, my father recently picked up an S4 i9505 off eBay, but its locked to EE. And i can't for the life of my unlock it to work on o2/Tesco Mobile. Ive tried the service menu trick, but that doesn't work. As its off eBay, ive already rooted it, i doubt it has any sort of warranty. If i flash an o2 UK rom will that get rid of the network lock perhaps?

no it won't, have you tried paying for an unlock via ebay or similar?

Using Towelroot and my baseband is I9505xxugne8 isit possible to root and use a good Custom Rom or not. The Towelroot seems to do most of it for me, however not sure if it will work or even any point in doing so.

I've put a request through on http://www.unlock-code-centre.com/

We'll see how that goes, i found an interesting comment on http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-sim-unlock-samsung-galaxy-s4-gt-i9505-for-free/

if your having problems accessing service mode then your baseband version is not right samsung blocked the service menu to prevent this unlocking the known baseband that works is ME2 i flashed this using odin then used this process and v'oila it worked fine if any one else is struggling and needs the tools and a walkthrough of how to downgrade your baseband to unlock email me [email protected]
How would i go about changing my baseband to ME2?

----

I managed to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025 for the ME2 modem. Went through all the steps, it instantly reboots when i press restore back-up. When it reboots, i still get invalid sim card :/ maybe i should just give up and wait for the code.

do you know if this resets the knox status?? I rooted the day after I got phone, not a big deal but would be handy if it does...
AFAIK, once knox is triggered and changes to 0x1 you cannot change it back to 0x0

Comic Sans uses up to 300% more battery.

Rightly so too.

Im hoping its a temporary thing, but the dev of Echoe Rom has stopped doing updates for the S4. A few people moaning has forced him to stop developing his rom and has had his thread closed.

Im on Ver 25 and its running very well on my S4.

Need some quick help, Just had my phone back from repair (replacement rear camera, fixed under warranty despite knox 0x1) anyway it was running 4.4.2 previously and rooted using Philz no issues at all.

Now Ive just flashed I9505XXUFNB8 (BTU) 4.4.2 to remove EE bloat all works fine.... that is until I flash Philz and root and I get no service and unable to go into mobile network settings, says please insert sim card.

Anybody know how to fix this or reccomend another simple root method?

OK so the battery had done my nut in and I rooted with towelroot, literally rooted in a second worked flawlessly. I purchased titanium backup and froze a ton of apps knox included and battery seems a lot better. Thinking about flashing a custom rom but don't know if it's worth the hassle, contemplating getting another phone in the next few months to and id have to figure a way to make it back to stock when I come to selling it. Decisions decisions. Anyway now I've rooted what else can I download or do.

Just for future referance to my above comments after lots of head scratching I'd completly forgotten to wipe Dalvik cache which resolved the issue immediately.

Anyone ever used the Chinese 4000+mah battery's on eBay? Lifetime warranty one seller is saying and the extra battery sounds great however don't want to blow up my phone so feedback would be great.
