*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

If its over £500 I'm not interested at all. The S3 is £337 at the minute with a further 5% cashback off the pre vat price.

I'm hoping it'll be reasonably priced though!

Does anyone know when we might see rrp?

I'm certain someone will be selling it for £499 a week or so after launch.

Or at least with that implied price on contracts. £26 x 24 = £624, £31 x £24 = £744. The latter is already available.

On its own it looks meh but compared to the One it looks awful and the new software features such as group play, air gesture or smart pause will never be used by me - ever.

I am really struggling to justify getting an S4. On its own it looks meh but compared to the One it looks awful and the new software features such as group play, air gesture or smart pause will never be used by me - ever. I have not had a galaxy before though (Using a Desire HD right now) so I have no first hand experience with them.

Buy an HTC One then?

If it was £529 simfree FORGET IT! GET STUFF!

The same goes for contract £31 x 24 = £744 (Mobile carrier will get profit of £215) FORGET IT! GET STUFF!

Look like I am going to stay with Samsung Galaxy S2 for bit longer!

I'm not too sure what people were expecting with the launch price... Of course it is going to have high end launch prices. It is a high end phone.

Profit ? Oh yeh I forgot networks are run at zero cost!

I pay £34 pm and for that I never worry about enough minutes enough texts oh and I get truly unlimited high speed data

I pay £816 over twenty four months, deduct the cost of my mobile if I bought it sim free so minus £500 then divide the balance by 24.

This deal means I get to buy a high end device interest free over two years and my mins/text/data equates to £13 per month, I'm so obviously being shafted.

Thanks for pointing out the error of my ways

Am I the only one here who doesn't see what the big fuss over LTE/4G is about? :p :o

800mhz 4G should replace gprs fairly quickly.
Strong, reliable, low power 1-2mbits everywhere in the UK. :)

Data hogs based in the city can worry about 1800-2600mhz super high, but unreliable, download speeds.

I don't mean to bash, I was actually fishing for other reasons to choose the s4 that I'm not aware of.

Regarding what I said, no I don't like the look of the phone; it is one of the cheapest looking phones on the entire market. And the software features I mentioned:

Group Play - When have you ever thought; I love annoying everybody around me by blasting my music through my phone's terrible speakers but it just isn't enough. If only I could blast it through other people's terrible speakers at the same time!

Air Gesture & Air View - This may save fingerprints on your phone (I actually doubt it will unless you are treating your screen like lava) but it seems far too slow to be worth it. Besides, how is it easier to wave your hand in front of a screen than to touch it. Apparently this is for hands free / full situations like when you are carrying groceries. But surely if you can't touch the screen then the problem probably isn't that you are 1cm too far away from the phone to reach it.

Smart View - If I am watching a video and need to go to the toilet or something then i will just hit pause- it is very easy. If I feel like stretching my neck a bit, maybe by turning my head to the left then I wouldn't want the to pause at all - it doesn't matter if I am not looking for two seconds. If it did I would glue the phone to my face.

I guess my main criticism of these features is that they resolve problems that don't exist, in many cases providing a solution which is even more awkward to use than the current method.

You've stated those features don't mean much to you because you don't suffer from those problems. But the thing is these features came about for a reason. R&D don't spend millions looking into what to put into phones. It's pretty clear a lot of people make use of such features because in their usage scenarios they have encountered some of those problems.

Na, they are pointless features which will probably get shown off in the pub once and then switched off permanently.
