*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

This is exactly where the dilemma sets in lol, my first and last HTC I owned was the Desire HD and I was absolutely blown away by the aesthetics & build quality of the phone, as well as the cutting edge hardware it had at the time. I then moved to the S2 when it came out and instantly was impressed with the faster hardware & how much quicker Android ran (where as on the Desire HD, Android started to run slow towards the end with newer Android releases). Though with the S2, I felt deep down that the build quality was not the best.

I then got the S3 last September, while again I was very impressed with how fast Android ran with the quad core CPU & how amazing the bigger screen was, as other people have echoed - the build quality after all for me still isn't mind blowing, but it is an improvement over the S2.

And it's just that with things like this, I am half tempted to move back to HTC as my next phone but I just need that little more convincing that it's hardware can still match up to the S4. I'm not fussed about extra storage as in reality I only use around 8GB anyway and non-removable battery's don't bother me either.

Build quality only becomes an issue once you factor in how you handle it. I for one rarely drop my phone, so as long as it isn't going to fall apart in my hands when I use it it won't be an issue for me.

What most people mean by 'build quality' is look and feel. I don't think there will be much disagreement that the HTC One is going to seem a more premium product than the S4.

Yeah but at the same time the S4 isn't going to feel like a toy -as many seem to refer to Samsung phones as- because I've played with actual toy phones and they're nothing alike :p

genuine lol :D

I saw this posted a long time ago on another site but it's relevant here:

I like this guy's overviews on stuff, S4 is no exception. I didn't see the S4 (and others once updated) can create gifs using the camera either, I do now!

I really do not get the point off the dual camera

What do you expect, it's just a marketing gimmick, that should be obvious. They sat in the Samsung offices and thought "Ok, so we have no new OS to ship, so what gimmicky ideas can we come up with now".

Personally I won't use a single one of the new features if I buy an SGSIV, they will be disabled from the word go.

We've got to the stage where the features are gimmicky, the OS is boring, the apps are even more boring, the hardware changes are even dull now and it's time we had a new platform to get the buzz going again.

I disagree about the hardware personally... I think the new Exynos, Snapdragon 600/800 etc are pretty exciting, and will soon usher in new era of portable computing. The Android OS has now reached a point where it is finally looking and feeling like a world-class OS, hence why it is "boring" simply because it has finally matured into what it should be. Android apps and games can also only continue to improve.

the only boring thing to me are in terms of phone physical designs, and manufacturer OS skinning and feautures. :)

Yup Android has come to a point where people can't slate it for being poor compared to immediate competition because it easily matches up on most fronts and exceeds them in others.

It's all down to individual software now and how that marries with the hardware.
