*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

With the announcement that CM Team won't be supporting the S4 it leaves questions as to how many other devs will follow suit.

The initial buzz of wanting the S4 has now faded I have to say.
 That is enough to put me completely off the phone altogether. You got a link mate? I can't stand touchwiz.

It's not true. One guy from CM said it and spoke for a few of them but made it sound like he was the voice of CM. That made others angry and they said that they had no official stance yet, and probably won't do until it has been released.

Some markets (US, Canada and Sweden) will get the Snapdragon 600 Quadcore Krait that will include LTE/4G. Other markets - probably us - will get the Exonys Octa (utilising big.LITTLE, basically four high powered cores and four low powered cores) which apparently won't have LTE/4G.

The 600 uses a souped up Adreno 320 & the Octa uses a PowerVR 544MP3 for their graphic solutions.

so no LTE/4G for us? whats the point?

There is no way on the planet that Samsung won't work with our networks to release a 4g variant for each of them. I mean Vodafone are already selling a 4g s3 when they don't even have 4g.

Chill, I bet all the pre order pages for the networks have 4g ready options, I imagine you'll end up seeing both the quad and octa core versions here.

Ah cheers. I know the Exynos isn't the most popular chipset with rom devs due to Samsung not providing full details. At least there is some hope now.

They allegedly have sales expectations to total 200m for s2/3/4 by the end of the year, that's since issue sales not 2013, with the reported interest though I can see them beating that, it's like everybody who had a 2 or 3 wants a 4 and everybody who went elsewhere want a piece of the Sammy action this time, that's word of mouth advertising and brand reputation for you, they've survived SDS fgs!

Looks like the UK is getting the Snapdragon quad-core instead of Exynos.

Samsung Galaxy S 4 is equipped with a 1.9GHz Quad-core AP or a 1.6GHz Octa-core AP. The selection of AP varies by markets. In the UK the Galaxy S 4 will be available as a 4G device with a 1.9GHz Quad Core Processor

Not bothered as long as the Adreno isn't a slouch compared to the PowerVR.

On the plus side, it will be easy for developers to work with the quad core version.

You won't notice any difference in real world usage when it comes to performance between the two (as long as Samsung do a good job with optimising the software/drivers with the qualcomm chipset this time.....), the s600 has plenty of power for 1080P (HTC one is being regarded as the fastest phone to date, even more so than the nexus 4, granted a lot of that will come down to software optimisation though), more than you need in fact. Only difference will be power efficiency.

I'll be looking to import one if that's the case, I know there won't be any noticeable difference for normal use but I don't care.

If I get a snapdragon device I will regret it.

Why though?

Snapdragon are good chipsets, if they weren't, they wouldn't be used in the majority of smartphones and Samsung wouldn't be going with them either if they didn't feel that they were up to their "standard"

I don't see the problem if the real world performance is the same and battery life isn't "much" different......

Is it just because you want to say that your mobile has an octa core CPU? :p
