*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

Hey guys, there's a list of tips and tricks here worth perusing, some we know and some perhaps not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/galaxy-s6-tips-tricks-t3072036

Number 23 is how to completely debloat without rooting.

My favourite though is disabling double click for the camera on the home button to get rid of the small delay. It really does make the home button instant.

For me the double tap to launch camera (even when the screen is off), is one of the best things about this phone!

I suppose it just depends how much you use the camera.

I found out that S6 car chargers advertised as rapid charging are bog standard charging speeds. The charger needed is this one, it's an adaptive fast charger model EP-LN915UBESTA. http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EP-LN915UBESTA

Just rang Samsung UK to ask where I can buy one as it's not on the Samsung UK website and he told me it's not available yet in the UK and that if I bought from the US it would invalidate my warranty as it's not a european model. I hope they have them in the UK soon. I've no idea if there are adaptive wireless car chargers here yet but would imagine they'd be over £50.

That sounds like utter nonsense regarding the invalidation of warranty. What on earth would be different about a US car charger?

This is what I was thinking too. That's what the guy told me, but then he really didn't sound very bright compared to the woman at Samsung I spoke to a few days ago about something else.

Sammobile
BTU or XEU..?

I am currently using a BTU firmware on my S6 Edge but I want to download 5.1.1
Will swapping to the one with XEU at the end be ok?

BTU is United Kingdom
XEU is United Kingdom / Ireland

As far as I can tell that's the only difference.
I used to be on O2 firmware before swapping to BTU

I couldn't find 5.1.1 btu for the edge

So used xeu. Think both will updates around the same time

Also I think xeu has 4G badge instead of LTE

Turned off wifi overnight and battery drain was slightly better (9% in 7.5 hours)

Still not sure what the battery drain is down to though. Anyone any ideas? Here are the GSam screenshots:

Just get used to it, even when you sort it the drain comes back after a few days.

The temporary fix for those stats is to uninstall Google play services and reinstall and wipe cache in recovery
mode.

Why would that help, if you don't mind me asking?

Anyone recommend a calendar? I've checked out (but not tried) many of the calendars for android and can't find what I want.

I need a calendar like the old s planner version 4.1.2 on my S2. On the old s planner, I can tap and double tap to go from year view to month view to day view instantly. Most of the time I'm in month view and will double tap a particular day to go straight to the whole of that day. Or I can pinch zoom as well.

But with the new s planner on the S6, although I like some of the new features, I don't care much for having to go to the tab at the top left to change view. I don't find it as fast and convenient. Other calendars seem to also just have tabs or else they have scrolling like aCalendar. Is there a calendar that suits my needs, or alternatively, would I be able to find and install an APK for the old s planner and would it work on the S6?

No idea if it suits your needs, but Sunrise Calendar seems like a popular choice.

Supprised we still don't have a 5.1.1 firmware available, looks like a newer one has been released in some countries but not sure what's different from the french firmware.

Hopefully the BTU will be be using the the newer firmware when it's finally released.
