*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

Because I couldn't be bothered remembering to switch them off every night (and have never done this on any other phone).

Again, this is not about "overnight", it just so happens that overnight, when I'm not actually using the phone, is the best time to try to figure out what is eating up my battery.

I'm also not actually complaining about the battery life on the S6 (I ain't a hater!). I was just curious why the phone would go through about 12-15% battery when I wasn't actually using the thing overnight.

I hear ya. Yeah, for me, I've always noticed how wifi on, location/gps, (and bluetooth probably) can burn battery life so I only ever turn those on when they're actually needed and then turn them off. I'm guessing you keep yours on all day?

I would tend to keep wifi and location on all day, yeah. In theory, both those things are only supposed to suck battery when an app is actually using them.

I'm quite surprised that turning wifi off actually helps improve battery drain. I would have thought that getting data via wifi was more power efficient than 3g. Unless the S6 doesn't actually switch 3g off when on wifi (I don't have the download booster on)?

To be honest, "smart" phones this day, age and cost shouldnt have to be fiddles with to squeeze out better battery life. I've had mine 3 days and can confirm the battery sucks.. probably worse than my S5 (albeit i had a de-bloated, custom rom running on it)

You make good points. I'll have to do some testing on mine and see what difference having wifi enabled actually makes to my battery in standby. Then I'll do a location on only test in standby too. Then same for bluetooth.
I don't mind, testing is fun :D

I guess all phones drop in value from the moment they are released. I bought my s4 about 6 months after launch for a fraction of its starting price. Funny how iphones never seem to drop in price until the new model comes out though...

Certainly happy with the s6 though, it's probably the best phone I've ever owned.

Yep, it's an unfortunate fact of life with Android. Sure they cost nearly as much as an iphone when they are new. But are they worth as much in a year's time? Hell no.

I bought a Xperia Z2 in May 2014 for about 500, a year later i'd have been very lucky to get 200 for it. It was absolutely mint. I ended up giving it to my wife, cos I couldn't bear selling it for so little.

The bottom of the iphone 2nd hand market is heavily supported by young girls spending moms money with no understanding of monetary value or the likelihood of internal damage to the phone or a used up spent battery.

I'm still waiting to further price drop.
I just can't justify spending so much on a phone, but I want s flagship lol.

And I'm waiting out to see If the bateryy imrpoves through future updates, although I'm not banking on it and If it does I'm not expecting anything major.

Question for Quinnaay, you bought a glass screen protector a week ago that I happened to link to for someone on xda. It's the Full Front Ultra Clear 9H Tempered Glass Screen Protector For Samsung Galaxy S6 which was £3.29 and is now down to £2.79.

Was just wondering how you're getting on with it and if it's worth me buying? Do the edges stay down, as I've read reports about various glass protectors that don't adhere at the edges properly.

It stays down but the sticky adhesive doesn't go to the edge so has caught dust unfortunately. I'd probably give it a miss though the cutout is perfect fit.. Shame really

I asked this in another thread, but have had no responses, so I'll try here as well.

im looking for the quickest way to take a pic on my galaxy S6, resize it and upload it so I can post it on the forums. Photobucket seems to stop working on my S6.

I got a Jetech glass from the river which sticks all over.

Quickpic let's you resize easily and quickly. Then upload it to imgur.

Thanks for letting me know. I guess these cheap glass protectors might all have similar issues.

This http://postimage.org/

has been my go to image uploader for ages. Works well, quite fast, can resize on the fly and it gives you a variety of links - thumbnails, fullsize and link to a gallery if you upload several in one go.

My S6 Edge battery has seriously degraded since I've had it (about 2 months or so now I think). It's gone from well over a day without needing a charge, to lasting about half a day. Pretty annoying.

Otherwise I really like the phone. Camera is superb.
