*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

I'm not really up to speed on the update, what benefits will it offer? I also am wondering when I'll get the EE update, but tbh, I have zero complaints with 5.0 2. The phone performs flawlessly for me and the battery life is great. If anything, I'm worried an update might make things worse.

If your current setup ain't broke, don't try to fix it!

5.0.2 is broke on every S6 regardless of setup - the memory management issue goes to the core of the OS. Surprised that anyone can not notice it, as the force closing is really obvious when you're switching between apps. Chrome and Facebook are particularly bad.

Had a play with a Google Cardboard with my friends iphone. I was really impressed with it. My S6 wouldn't fit the cardboard as it was hanging out the sides and would probably fall out.

Can anyone recommend a cardboard that will fit a standard s6 because I've become frustrated at trying to find one that actually fits it!

Is anyone using an s6 on Three? Since moving over from my iPhone 6 I've noticed my 4g signal quality drop noticeably. I don't recall having one of those settings messages either?

Where I am 4G coverage was great. Changing phones has worsened mine

Edit: that said one couldn't I suppose rule out some sort of change to coverage at the same time I had my phone.....

iPhones and Samsung devices don't report signal quality the same way (and Samsung sometimes changes it between devices too unhelpfully). Unless you're doing it scientifically and watching the signal strength I'd wager there's no difference. Samsung devices typically recieve about 1-2% better in my network testing for what it's worth.

Contract is up soon, is an S6 a decent upgrade from an S4? Doesn't seem that different other than physical size? Edge also seems like a bit of a gimmick?

Yes, it's a good upgrade and yes the Edge is a gimmick. ;)

If you feel the S4 does everything you need then don't upgrade, get your deal changed to a rolling monthly contract and save some money if you want.

I would like a bit more onboard memory, even with a 16GB SD Card I have to keep deleting cache and movies & photos onto the card to clear space for updates.

32gb is the minimum you can get on the S6, but if I was you I would aim for 64gb if you can or be crazy like me and go straight for the 128gb! lol

Well I updated my firmware last night to the latest official version and my S6 Edge definitely feels a lot quicker which I didn't expect. Battery life I have no idea of yet as this is the first day I've had it on a full charge so I'll see how it goes. It was easily lasting the day though before.

I am finding that the battery life is just as good if not better than when it was on 5.0.2

i find the phone is using less battery when the screen is off, and the phone is idle doing nothing. which is good. why should it use much battery when its just sat there minding it own business :D

Yeah same mate...although at first glance I think I'm around 10-12% better off at this stage of my normal working day, now that's a good thing!

I think you're right there Tauren as I'm certainly not witnessing any drastic drain on the battery when idle today.

Oh and yes I updated the firmware with Odin and lost nothing :)
