*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

Just in the process of returning my S6, just got an email through work offering the S6 Edge on 02 for £35 with 3GB 4G data and unlimites calls/texts which seems a good deal so the Edge will be with me Friday all been well.

Have I made a mistake? Seems some people are having issues with them touching the side when in use rendering some touch inputs not working. Is this a big problem?

Not sure if its too late but I ordered an edge yesterday with unlimited/unlimited/5GB for £32 a month with EE. If you don't have to go through your work/aren't opposed to EE could save you some money and give you some extra data. Found the deal through affordablemobiles.co.uk. Had to pay £24 upfront but found a code for £5 off.

Edit: Just checked and you can get it with no upfront cost if you aren't going for a green one. As someone linked earlier in the thread, I actually found the deal through Money Supermarket

That's surprising from Amazon, I always have nothing but great service.

Was it an Amazon direct phone?

Yup, used their online chat thing yesterday and the guy i was talking to said he contacted dpd and the phone was out for delivery, so i sit in like an idiot and nothing. I call dpd today myself and they tell me that the package was last scanned on sunday and its being treated as a lost item. So that's 3 days, sunday, monday and tuesday of expecting something to be delivered and currently nobody has a clue where it is. That's despite amazon service reps telling me otherwise and the dpd story tallies with their online tracker as its not budged since sunday.

Called them today, got a replacement sorted out, seen the delivery was like 2 weeks away and went **** that and cancelled it for a refund.

If they had got their thumb out sooner and actually checked on the status instead of spinning me tales laced with ******** i probably could have had a replacement for the end of the week, but nope. Just gonna go elsewhere when more stock is available.

Mine arrived this morning, was initially a little concerned when I noticed the sticker sealing the box was just stuck over an already opened one. I assume this just means its one someone returned? Checked the device all over and its in perfect condition, no loose home button etc. so I think it'll be alright.

Again anyone rooted? Just reading up on XDA if its best to do now before I set it all up.

Had the edge for nearly a month.

Performance hasn't degraded. Have no idea why people are apparently complaining about difficulty holding the phone? Genuinely, if you can hold any other phone then you can hold the edge. It feels a lot nicer to hold than any phone I've had before and I've never accidently touched the screen because of the curve.

Stop worrying. The phone isn't perfect but neither is any other and the s6 is arguably the best phone you can buy at the moment.

+1

I am already on 5.1.1 and I have just DL the 200 Mb update ...

What exactly does "rooting" do? Just lets you install anything you want?

Sort of, there are a few apps I use that make use of having root privileges. Things like an ad blocker for example, on my old phone I've got too used to never seeing adverts on webpages and in apps

Plus the ability to remove some of the useless stuff that comes pre-installed would be nice

I thought £35 was good! Oh well I like the 02 refresh as I tend to pay the phone off and upgrade earlier. Not sure if EE do this? Plus my £1 lunch on mondays are a bonus :)
