*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

Got another update yesterday. That makes 3 now.

650.48MB on 10th August which upgraded me to 5.1.1

211.83MB on 26th Oct, no idea what that did but I believe it was the update
that included battery improvement. Can't say I've noticed any difference.

Got this 85.47MB update yesterday.

Has anyone else recently updated and seen their battery life drop off a cliff? It's an S6 Edge on Vodafone (don't know if the network makes any difference) which is now on Android 5.1.1 and although I've left it a few days to see if it improved I've gone from having a battery life of a couple of days to it barely lasting a day. My usage pattern hasn't changed but it seems to discharge at a much faster rate than it used to.

Are there any applications that are particularly good for identifying what is draining the battery so quickly? Or am I better to either force it into an unofficial update or just live with it until the next official update which will hopefully fix it?

If you have the battery optimisation update go to battery and switch on app optimisation.

Thanks for the reply, I've got battery optimisation on which does appear to have helped marginally but it's still significantly worse than it was before the recent update. I'm assuming the problem has been caused by the update but it might just be a coincidence that I've got an unrelated issue at the same time.

This phone is very hit and miss

hardware, design, rom is all fantastic but man does it have issues

my battery life has gone from dire, to pretty darn good. Pushing well over a day now, and I think it may have something to do with turning off the weather widget and switching to using the outlook mail app.

anyway, my biggest gripe...

My s6 sat right next to a friends s5 (same network, vodafone)

Mine - H
His - 4G

Mine - 2mb Wifi on speedtest
His - 34mb Wifi on speedtest

Reboot and mines ok
Today, same as yesterday

I've done factory resets, but it seems after a few hours my data speeds drop right down

The weather widget and outlook you say? I think I binned the widget off the home screen, do I need to turn it off somewhere in the settings too?

Been thinking of switching to outlook myself. How is it?

If anyone is having a problem with the fast charging not working, I was at the point I nearly sent it back. But later found out that the quality of Samsung USB micro cables are terrible and found a pin to be missing on the micro male connector.

new cable solved it.

just a headsup in case anyone has this issue.

Same here, it's a bug. Try the auto restart feature daily.. It helps.

Hey guys could you all do me a favour and check if your phones have got a app installed called sec.abt ?

Its com.absolute.android.agent

I shouldnt have it on my sim free handset and im wondering if it has come in with the new update ??

If nobody knows what i mean please look online for computrace from absolute for EE.

Its very bad spyware that can do lots of harmful things.

Ive tried to uninstall it but it pops back on everyfew seconds and wont disable.

HELP

I think it's an EE installed app to track lost/stolen devices.

I missed that deal on giffgaff, are there any other deals? The cheapest I found is 350 for the S6 32gb...

I regret not going for it :(, think I'd just rather get the S6 over the Z5 especially since its cheaper.
Their 14 day return policy seems good as well...

Yeah the prices seem to just be buffering around £350.

Snagged a 64gb Edge last night in the deals for £299. Well pleased with that they soon sold out as you can imagine. UK Model also brand new and sealed.

Would have preferred white though as its black but not to worry. Have checked it on checkmend as I always do.
