What do I flash though? Is there an update file or do I flash an entire firmware? Does it factory reset the phone in the process?

the entire FW from somewhere like SAMMOBILE.

It keeps all data and settings

how can i find the changelog if i've already done the update?

I just got my S7 Edge as an upgrade directly from Vodafone and the seal is broken, no visible usage and plastic still on the phone.

I called up to see what's up, they said we do break seals to check the phone and accessories are all in place with these newer devices before they send them out.

Is this the norm these days?

It's becoming more common I've noticed here, I wouldn't accept a phone with a broken seal on the box though.

This happened to me about 4 years ago from Vodafone. All was fine.

If the box says: "Do not accept if seal is broken" then it is your legal right not to accept it, and Samsung would have your back.

I can't help but chuckle a little bit at this guy on YouTube having a go at me because in the fingerprint sensor test, the S7 screen was on, how is that fair?! I'm trying to explain it's an always on screen, the device is 'off' and he's not having it

Bit of a tricky concept to understand it would seem.

Nope, mine was sealed with a label "EUROPEAN SIM CARD ONLY".

Problem with my edge. The top half an inch of screen isn't recognising touch which is irritating as I can't type into a browser bar or drag down for notifications.

I'm having to use a browser in split screen on the bottom half.

Any ideas?

Think it's more software. It works straight after a power off and on then stops.

Bugger took ages to set it up

Hm...you could try manually reflashing a fresh stock rom.
