**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Had two of these and the first one was fine with excellent battery life. But on the second one, I'm getting tons of Android System all over my battery stats. This seems to be a new problem from one of the later updates.... arghghghghghg

I've only noticed this morning, the bottom left of my screen looks as if some of it is blacked out, it's like the screen is dead there, does anyone else have this?

Will take pics later but I got a feeling it's a screen defect

See my posts earlier in the thread, I had the exact same issue. Samsung allowed me to purchase a new S7 Edge and then send back the original one for a refund as I wanted to transfer my data over while I had both phones.

Edit: I purchased with the original pre-order via the Samsung website, they might only offer a repair if you purchased from elsewhere and depending on how long it has been.

Cheers I will get in touch with them!

I had the same problem with the S7E I got on Saturday from CPW. The mark was at the top of the screen, semi-circle shaped. Thankfully they did a swap in store for me.

It's weird, it's probably been there for ages and have only noticed it now, but once you notice it you can't seem to help not get annoyed by it.

I've dropped my local Samsung repair branch an email to see what they can do, not sure if they will redirect me back to Vodafone who I'd rather avoid dealing with but let's see!

So, having just discovered Samsung's Good Lock, are there any other little gems to look out for?

Hey all,

Looking for some advice / info, I'm looking to take out a contract for a S7 as I can currently get one for free with 5GB 4G, unlimited mins texts etc from EE on mobile phones direct for 33.49mp (24 months).

I am interested in using Samsung VR, I would mainly use my phone for games on the go, films, music, YouTube and sky on the go.

Firstly, is there any reason I should get the edge over the normal S7?

Secondly, is MPD a reputable service / contract provider?

Thanks

Joe

You get the Edge because it is rude not to! There is probably not much point in it but it does give a bigger screen and Edge apps which I do end up using at least once a day. The Edge feels very nice in the hand and looks lovely.

Only problem is I don't think the edge is free. The S7 on the other hand is :).

The edge because it looks stunning, you want a larger screen and you want a larger battery.

Or the flat because you don't want such a big phone, would find a curved screen irritating, and you'd rather save a few pounds.

If you've not already, get to a shop and have a look/feel of both.

Edit - as you mentioned VR, apparently it should be slightly better on the flat due to slightly higher pixel density, but I can't imagine anyone could notice the difference...

I have seen them in person and I do like the thought of a bigger screen but with the phone being a freebie combined with a cheaper contract it seems more appealing tbh.

From what I've read they both have a similar spec except the screen, size and shape.

Is the curved edges beneficial and do they add any value to watching videos / playing games?

The battery life isn't a biggy, I'm a heavy user but can always charge it at work if need be.

I think its a personal preference thing, I think it looks cool but I don't think it really adds anything, and some people don't particularly like the distorted image at the edge, I was unsure at first but really like it now. The only other thing is the edge menu, I don't think many people find it that useful though I'm sure some do.

It is a thing of beauty though. :)

Get some more opinions though. The only other thing I'd say is while you're paying as much as you are for a phone isn't it worth a little extra for the edge if its what you really want (I know the flat is free but you're essentially paying for it with your contract).

I had an edge and moved to an S7 and personally for me its the perfect size. So easy to use in 1 hand.

Am finding this s7 is so much louder through the speaker also.
