**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I think I'm coming to that point where I prefer a simple AIO solution (like the apple ecosystem).

I've had all the Samsung flagships since the S2, and the main reason I've stuck with Samsung is they are the leaders in screen quality/camera/battery performance in my opinion, however I think that novelty is slowly wearing off after all these years of ownership.

14 day period is correct, give it a try and see what you think :)

I've been offered an S7 Edge with 20GB data, unlimited minutes/texts and a gift (speaker or headphones are the most notable) for £49/m with no up front cost on O2 Refresh.

I presume that's over 2 years? Quite pricey if you ask me!

Might be better off buying sim free and getting a sim only contract

I managed S7 for £32/m with spotify included (which I use anyway) with a £60 upfront fee. Only 12GB Data though.

49 a month is nearly £1200. Phone is about £600, so if you buy it on it's own and get a sim card, you'll save a fair chunk of money.

I've just moved from Samsung to the Pixel XL and it is much much better IMO, both in hardware and software but mainly the latter.

I too have owned every Samsung flagship device since the S2 and my most recent trinket was the S6 Edge Plus but I really did just get tired of Samsung's overreach on the UI and all the bloatware, I don't think I used any native Samsung apps. I did have an S7E for about a week but just wasn't feeling it at all so returned it, it was a very nice phone but I couldn't see the upgrade from the S6.

El1te, for all the reasons you list, ie camera/battery/screen quality you are right in that Samsung has lead the way here, but the Pixel trumps Samsung in every one of those departments.

Fair enough, it's good to hear that actually, as I'm in your position too with the previous history of Samsung devices.

The S7 Edge will probably be my last Samsung phone, so until it gives in I'll see what the future holds :)

£49 a month after its been out almost 10 months? I would say no thanks..

In hindsight that does seem awfully high. I've just put another call into O2 and subsequently been offered: S7 Edge with unlimited mins/texts and 20GB data for £40/m with no upfront cost, which works out £216 cheaper than the previous deal.

I can't seem to find anything cheaper online for new customers or upgrades.

How does it look?

Seems expensive to me, but I'm paying £32 (essentially £22, with spotify included).

Work out how much the phone costs to buy and how much a sim only deal would be. Makes it easier to judge that way.

Makes more sense to work these things out for the whole length of the contract.

So mines is £768 - £220 (netflix subs) = £548

Which if you include it's still a £350-400 phone. It's not a bad deal. That's with Vodafone, but not sure if the deals still about?

How did you manage to get it that cheap?

The phone is £639 and the cheapest sim only deal that matches what O2 offered me is £20/m, which works out at £1079. What O2 offered me is cheaper!

That does seem awfully expensive, even my Pixel XL (bought outright in conjunction with Sim free) comes in at £1056 over 24 months - and that's taking the XL at it's cost of £720 with "free" VR which I swiftly moved on for £70. That's on a Vodafone deal with 20gb Data, 2gb Roaming data and unlimited everything else.

The S7E deal that I briefly had was a 'like new' unit from O2 but I decided after a week it still wasn't worth it, sent it back.

Even at that price it makes it £960 over 24 months with the sim free deal.

How are you guys getting cheaper?!

I've had the 'One plan' from three for 5 years now, £15 a month for unlimited Internet, calls and texts, free 4G, free roaming, 15Gb tethering, it's now £20 on three which makes it unbeatable.

At this stage is it even worth getting an S7E at this price with the S8 just around the corner?
It is ridiculous how the S7 range has held it's value. I remember buying an S6 from Argos last October for £350 - around 6 months after it was released. You won't see a high street price like that for the S7.

I think the Note 7 fiasco helped with the S7 holding its value

Possibly. But then there was never even a Note 5/6 (in the UK at least) so that void existed then too.

But yes I see your point. I was holding out for the Note 7 and when that went up in smoke (sorry) I considered jumping to the S7E like most other people but didn't bother in the end.

I smashed the screen on my iPhone over the weekend, so rather than repair it for £150 or whatever obscene amount it costs, I might as well upgrade. My contract runs out in Feb.

£40.37/m with £0 upfront is still the cheapest I can find online. I could try blag that and then some kind of loyalty discount?

Have you tried Uswitch? Deals on there ranging from £700 to £900 depending on how much you want to pay up front.

Thanks, completely forgot about that site.

The cheapest deal I can find that closely matches my current tariff is £29.99 upfront and £34 a month with 8GB of data; which equates to £845.99 over the term.

I'm on 10GB at the moment but I could be a bit more strict when it comes to WIFI.

I'd like to think O2 would waiver the upfront cost and potentially knock a few quid off via a loyalty discount.
