**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

If the XEU Nougat is out, is it worth flashing back to it from BTU? Will it continue to get updates as is?

Hey guys

Travelling to Japan in a few weeks and I'd really like to get a grippy impact-resistant case for my S7E. What would you guys recommend? Happy to pay more and compromise on looks for a good case.

Cheers,

Su

I have one of these, it works well and is nice and grippy.

I acctually got one of these:

to take snowboarding with me, and the phone held up well.

Also enjoy Japan, it's awesome :) I smashed a phone there last year :)

It's on general release for Voda UK now. The CSC is VFG (VodaFone Group). There's a stupid new app with it (most disappointed in my own company here) for accessories but you can immediately uninstall it at least. It didn't re-install any other network apps from what I can see but as usual with Samsung, Instagram is back. You can now force on migrate apps to SD in developer options though if you're low on space :)

I got sick of waiting for EE, so I have just flashed it myself my to the vanilla Samsung Software so I will get any updates quicker than EE push them out.

you may lose wifi calling this way, have you tested to see if your version of Nougat supports it?

not sure if for EE you need to be on their Android 7 software

Thanks. To be honest I get 4g reception in every room in the house so even if I don't it will not be a great miss, I would rather have vanilla Samsung software. Just checked and you can.

i am still waiting for update, and also going to Japan in May:)

I'd reccomend getting a data sim too, i got mine delivered to the hotel. Unlimited data, and very quick for £25 or so for two weeks. Sooooo worth it, wi-fi believe it or not is quite scarce in Tokyo. So handy to pull out your phone, and google maps rocks for the subway system etc. It saved me so much time and money.

We were quite set on the idea of getting one of those pocket WiFi and sharing it across 4 people, seems the best option.

Only two of us, so very handy having sim only. Plus the amount of times I got lost, drunk, and alone it was well worth it :p
