**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I've praised the S7e for its battery longevity in this thread, now its the opposite

I'm getting 3 h SoT and what it seems like huge background drain, but the battery manager isn't showing
anything abnormal, this is the same for my partners and friends S7e, all of which are over 1 year old

If I take my phone off charge at 7am and have no use until 8.30 or so its now dropping 10 - 15 % while idle,
it wouldn't have dropped that much while using the device!

Its becoming increasingly noticeable, any ideas?

battery is going poof! I'm experiancing the same on my s7.

checking with accubattery for the last few weeks my battery performing 75% of it's max. So 25% loss since release which is CRAZY. I never had a phones battery deteriorate so bad. Seems to be S7 specific.

Seems to be S7 specific.

note 4 batteries were failing all over the place. I had to replace mine after 12 months. Note 7 batteries were exploding. s7 batteries seem to be ageing prematurely but from what I've seen so far, not as bad as the Note 4 at least.

The real problem is Samsung taking the **** with their batteries. It's becoming more obvious as these models are getting older.

Yep my S7 edge battery life is not as good as it used to be.

In fact, when I got it, it was as good if not better than my previous phone, a Sony Z3 which were renowned for having great battery life. However, it quickly deteriorated, and now its really not very good if I'm honest. Like others, it seems fine if I'm using it indoors with Wifi, it can last many hours of constant use, but then so could many of my other phones.

However, when out and about, this seems to be what drains it. It can easily lose 20% of the battery between say waking up on a morning, and travelling to one of our scottish offices from Newcastle without even really ever using it.

Same story when I went down to Leeds this weekend for a festival. What was interesting, is my friend has an iPhone 7 (standard, not plus), and he was down to 2% on the morning we came back, I was on 17%. By the time we got back, his phone was still on 2%, mine was down to 5%.

Not really very good performance there, and I've actually now for the first time bought myself a power bank to take with me on trips.

I'm convinced this will definitely be my last Samsung phone. Between issues like this and the poor update situation, not to mention the bloatware and random lagging (not terrible but shouldn't be happening on a device with these specs IMO) and I think I'll look elsewhere for my next device.

Not expecting anything back but has anyone had a problem whereby they don't receive SMS messages randomly. I've had 2 in the last week now where someone has replied to a message and I've not received it. Yet when I try again its working fine. Not sure whether its the phone or my provider at fault for this.

I had the update with the July patches earlier this month but got another update yesterday - anyone else get this? It's still July patches so I have no idea what the update was for as it didn't say anything specific.

Are you using the built in app? I had similar issue with Handcent Next SMS which I use instead of the default Samsung app. I hadn't used my app for a couple of days and the phone puts the app to sleep. If you send a text it wakes it up and you'll get a reply if it hasn't gone to sleep again after the set time. Go to Device Maint. >>> Battery >>> Unmonitored apps at the bottom of the page once its loaded and then ensure that the app/s you use are added to the list so they never are sent to sleep. You might need to do a restart........it has worked for me.

It was the google app, and yeah I sorted it - just as you suggested, it was in the list of apps that were "Always sleeping", which was really helpful I have to say. It's now in the unmonitored apps list and problem is solved.

I was getting complaints from my friends that I was ignoring them - who knows how many messages I didn't receive!

anybodys s7 edge started being sluggish and freezing from time to time mines been doing it about 3 weeks now not sure if its the latest update but its driving me crazy

Yes, but that seems to be normal for a Samsung, particularly a model over a year old.

Restart usually sorts it for me temporarily.
