**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Will 4GB of data be enough? I assume you're going to want to make use of that 1440P display and play HD youtube content as well as muck about with Youtube360 videos too which would consume a lot of data.

On a modern flagship on a4G or 3G+ tariff I would not entertain the idea of less than 10GB of data per month.

I'm keeping my 3 sim only deal with all you can eat data, texts, 4GB PC tethering (unlimited tethering to everything else :p) and 600 voice mins for £22 a month.

What's the deal with OIS on these, can't see it mentioned anywhere, but surely a backward step like that would have been picked up by reviewers.

The camera has got "Smart OIS" which is optical image stabilization and software image stabilization. Works very well on the S6/Note 5 and will without doubt be even better with this lot.

Would be interested to hear best deals people are getting. Coming to end of my S5 ee contract.

Interested in the S7 Edge, looking for 4gb+ of data, unlimited mins and texts, up to £100 for handset and 35 quid a month. If anyone knows where to get this kind of deal I'd appreciate it.

A guy over on hotukdeals mentioned he haggled with carphone warehouse on the phone this evening to get the edge s7 for 60 quid handset, 35 quid a month, 10gb data, unlimited calls and texts and free gear vr, on ee.

That's what I've ordered with Vodafone...
Going for the below:

S7 Black £99 up front
Ultd Txt/Min + 6GB Data £31.20p/m (discount of 20% applied)
This would typically cost £39p/m
24 months
£70 Cashback through Quidco
Free Samsung VR Headset (rrp £79).

Best chance is to haggle with EE after finding a deal elsewhere and seeing what they offer you :)

Must wait for full reviews before purchasing the Edge variant :p

This device just ticks a lot of boxes for me, my HTC m8 is definitely being sold this year and this one is tempting..

Well...after saying I would not get a Samsung phone for my next one....have an S7 Edge on pre-order with Voda. Went for the 10 GB plan with £29.99 up front and then £50 per month. Get a 20% reduction in contract with work, so works out at £40 which is what I am paying at the moment with O2, but for ony 2 GB of data.

Also get the Gear VR with it too. Not sure of how much use that is going to be to me, but will try it out. Probably expect that will be going on the MM pretty soon after I get it, along with my Note 4 so as to help cover some costs.

I would keep the Gear VR, I think it's something you may regret selling as development for it progresses.

Gutted I don't have one of these Vodafone 20% off codes, is there any way to use someone else's if they don't want it without being part of the scheme myself?

Gaah someone please list me some pluses and minuses of the S7 Edge over the regular S7 (other than edge screen functionality)... I'm having major indecision. :p

EDIT - Edge apparently not as good for VR use! http://venturebeat.com/2016/02/22/o...axy-s7-beats-the-s7-edge-for-virtual-reality/ :D

It was a pixelated mess on the S6 when I tried it so not bothered with VR until we get 4k screens. Mine will be going on the bay when it arrives. Knocks £70 of the price of the phone then.

I think for the £70 price difference the Edge is the much better buy and its not that much bigger judging by the videos I have seen. The edge screen phones are really a joy to behold, it just makes the phone ooze quality. Can't say I really used the edge features on the 6 edge but it looks much more classy. The way things bend round the screen for example when you on the net moving about looks amazing.

Is anyone else concerned that the always on screen will cause burn-in? My Galaxy S3 had this really badly and my current S5 is showing it too after about 18 months of use.
