**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Just pre-ordered the standard 7 on Amazon UK.

When it comes time to upgrade is there a way to transfer everything from my galaxy s6 to s7, apps/settings etc like on iphones? Or is a fresh install best?

It comes with a cable to specially handle it for you.

You use it to unlock the device, I'm not sure if it's the same as the iPhone but you can link it with your Amazon account for quick purchases, and also use it to buy inside the App Store.

Ta, is there a lot of faffing about with the fingerprint reader or is it quite a quick process?

Unlimited Mins/Text, 6GB Data with Vodafone at £45 with £99 handset cost and not having to pay the £100+ for an early upgrade. Also get the free VR headset.

Is that a good deal?

Nope...if you select everything through the Vodafone homepage it gives you the same deal for £39p/m ;)

i have a s6 edge, fingerprint is super responsive, dont think i could use a phone without it now ,

This. I use it all the time and it's really excellent.

Install Samsung Smart Switch on both devices and it'll transfer everything for you. You'll probably still need to sort some settings after. Also, download Helium and do your future S7 backups to pc with that.

Plus whether you buy it outright or get a SIM only deal prices are going up and up anyway (assuming you want a reasonable amount of data)

I've been doing the math between buying the phone outright and getting like a 15-20 quid a month sim only deal with good data usage and a contract where you pay 35ish a month and 120 upfront for the phone

Over 2 years the difference is hardly anything. I kind of sold myself on just buying the phone outright this time, but doesn't seem worth parting with 600 quid now to save like 20 quid over 2 years.

Once brodit make a car holder I'll be having one. Was going to have a note 5.

Brodit told me they're expecting phone this week to start design. However they wouldn't be drawn on whether they would be available in days weeks or months.

Changing my active cradle is always the chore of changing phones:(

you're not gonna pre order from amazon.de and get the free vr headset?

This. I use it all the time and it's really excellent.

No decided to edge my bets with Amazon UK. Happy enough.

Cheers dude!

FYI you can use the Samsung smart switch app to migrate data and settings from other galaxy phones as well as the following, could be handy....

iPhones with iOS 4.2.1 and higher
HTC®: One X, One X+, One S, HTC One SV, One , One V
LG®: Optimus G, Optimus L9, G2 D802 Nexus 4 E960
Sony®: XPERIA Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia TL
Huawei™: C8813, T8951

Has anyone found the new wireless charger for sale anywhere yet?

I had a quick play on one today in the Three store. My impression was that I am going to be pleased with it. It feels familiar yet fresh. Nice and comfortable in the hand, unlike my Sony which is rather unwieldy. I like the edge element to the screen and the soft rounded corners are quite an improvement over the sharp edges of my current phone. It feels like a premium product with a highly responsive and vibrant screen.

Has anyone found a decent screen protector for the S7 Edge? I have found a few protective cases (have one ordered) but was looking around for a good screen protector and not finding too much.

I called up Carphone Warehouse and on a new contract managed to get the S7 Edge in black on Vodafone for £36 a month, 99 up front for handset, unlimited texts and calls, 11gb of data and free gear vr headset.

This deal is on thier site but handset is 150, managed to get it down to 99 on the phone.

Very very tempted by the S7 Edge. I had the 6 Edge and in the end got shot of it due to the battery life not being good enough for my needs.

Tempted to just buy from Samsung direct as I am also very interested in the Gear VR stuff however like the post above from icehot I also would like the silver version if it ever came to the UK market.
