**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

The only thing that bothers me is the lack of photo syncing between devices. It's handy being able to take a picture on your phone and have it automatically appear on your iPad and Mac. Think you can probably do the same with Google services but not as easily.

Google photos will sync via all devices and has an unlimited storage option.

Hmm.... Do I finally leave IOS or wait for iPhone 7.

Trouble is I got all the Eco system, iPad Apple Watch etc.
But the s7 edge does look pretty and I can't see Apple doing anything that shocks me in September

Apple is fantastic at locking people in.

Sadly, the watch can't be used with an iPhone = cleaver on Apple's part!

Put my S6 in the S7 edge case I got waiting and I have to be honest the difference is size is very marginal. Side to side is hardly noticeable with slight movement, with a gap at the top which isn't that big.

Think you would be mad to pick a standard S7 up when you think of the minimal price difference.

They don't need to do any of those things, it has an apple logo, that enough for most people.

That's true, but how long can people be oblivious for? I've had phones other than iPhones, to this day the best phone I ever had was the nexus 5, but always got drawn back to Apple because of the simple layout and build quality.

My current contract on my S5 ends in 3 weeks. Nice timing!

Can the S7 edge would be the same monthly payments so Im super excited to switch. I suddenly completely hate my S5 as of today.

any word on what CPU the S7 edge in the UK will be getting? Most sources say both the S7 and Edge will come with either and its most likely a regional thing.

Which CPU is better or is that still fairly unknown?

Im unsure if i should go sim only and take up that paypal 0% offer? It would work out cheaper.

I was looking to go to EE but as a BT broadband customer i can get a pretty decent BT sim only contract. Im assuming now BT owns EE that their networks are identical? (I get great EE 4G around here)

UK/eu gets exynos 8890. Generally much of a muchness with the SD820. In real world usage there isn't gonna be much difference. I'm very happy with the exynos.

Came across this when I was searching for the differnce between them:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/10075/early-exynos-8890-impressions

The bit near the bottom is slightly concerning:

One observation I made today which was particularly concerning, was that both with the Snapdragon 820 LG G5 as well as the Exynos 8890 Galaxy S7 got considerably warm after running some heavy workloads. The fact that the Galaxy S7 touts having a heat-pipe thermal dissipation system is a quite worrying characteristic of the phone and should in no way be seen as a positive feature as it points to high power draw figures on the part of the SoC.

Yeah you're right, just messing. :)

It quite amazing though, both my nieces had new iPhones this year and on both occasions I casually suggested maybe something else, but they wouldn't even entertain the thought. Had to be an iPhone, everyone has an iPhone...

my sister (16) is insisting on a new iphone. My brother and my housemate are on iphone 6S and 5S respectively and are avid long term apple users and are so sick of their phones they can't wait for contracts ending. Issues with software and build quality on the 6 have been huge issues.

It happens just as easily. Take a photo on your android phone, go to photos on your browser on your pc/mac/tablet and voilà.. There is the photo you've just taken. Its been like that for years and isn't a new thing for android users - just Google don't make a song and dance of it like Apple do.

Benchmarks - meh

Phones have had the required hardware to be more than fast + smooth enough for quite a few years now, if there is ever lag/slowdown in "normal" usage, it is usually down to the software skin or/and apps.

I had a 6P and it felt just that little bit more instant than the nexus 5, if they weren't side by side, you wouldn't have noticed.

****** set of Benchmarks, the LG is not even part of half off them. The S820 won 2 and lost 1, but too be honest I think its all about power management now everything is crazy fast.
