Get a new smartphone every few months, never smashed a screen before. One month with a Samsung “edge” phone and .......smash. Gutted.

Yup, don't think it likes being dropped. Mine slipped from my grasp and in slow-mo watched it head towards the concrete. Luckily it landed flat on its back. I have a case protecting the back though maybe more for grip. It was fine but guess I was lucky.

Landed on the edge of the screen, back protected but only minimal protection on the sides.

Don’t get me wrong, another phone dropped face down might have smashed too but I just think there’s more chance of an S8 smashing than say a Oneplus3T because of the more exposed edges.

Everything seems to be working perfectly really. That's the upside to Samsung releases, they take their time, but everything just works.

Google could learn a thing here :p

I did a quick video on it too: https://youtu.be/73uBM4f8lLE

Did the CRAP update last night. I was on the beta edition so just a case of downloading the update.zip and placing on sd card, then boot into recovery. All went well though seemed to take an age. Kept my nerve and eventually did its thing and rebooted phone.

Does feel a little faster after update. Difficult to quantify though and may be wishful thinking! As you say we can use Android Pay again. Just started using it when I enrolled on the Oreo beta. Could have done with it yesterday. Was working on another farm and thought I'd get the mrs something for Valentines day on way home. Prob - I'd forgotten my wallet and only had £1-35 in change in truck. I explained all this to the mrs and she was very understanding

I can wait, i dont use android pay anyway. plus i dont have an SD card at the moment :p

They have pulled the update so obviously something wasn’t working :p

crap update pulled. That's just so perfect :D

YEEEHAAWWWW

I havent got around to applying the update yet, so looks like I'll be giving it a miss and waiting for the official release.
I'm still running the latest beta, and no reboots that Ive seen.

Hmmm. I’ve received an infraction on here before for using the phrase I muttered.

On the plus side.....

Dropped on Tuesday, Posted to repair centre Thursday, received, repaired and dispatched back to me today. Tracking info received for delivery tomorrow. Impressed with that. (Until it turns up unfixed that is :) )

I had a top speaker fault with my S8. Took it back to Carphone Warehouse instead of messing about posting it to Samsung. They said it could be a week, in actual fact it was only a couple of days. I was somewhat impressed with CW which isn't often the case. Oh, it was fixed too :)

No reboot issues on my phone with the CRAP update. Seems to be running fine. Standby time seems to have been improved a little. Noticeable today as was working at a site with variable signal. Didn't seem to hammer battery quite so much.

Does anyone have any alternatives to Smartswitch? I'd like to backup my phots on my laptop but it continually crashes about 2/3 of the way through the back up.

Cheers

My s8+ started to play up with charging...
Ned to push cable quite hard in for it to start charging....slightest touch to the cable and it comes out enough to stop charging...
And not always charges in fast charge...

Just got a new cable to see if it's the issue...if not, not sure what to do...
