**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Exynos 9 series (8890) specs:

4GB RAM is a bummer, but it's 10nm and supposed to be highly efficient, so maybe this is perfectly fine. The S8 is going to be an absolute monster especially with that GPU. I imagine the main reasoning for this is a complete VR platform (to take on Oculus) and the new Continuum style ecosystem Samsung have in the works.

EVLeaks also confirmed that the bundled earphones are tuned by AKG with the S8, this further leads me to believe that the DAC on the S8 will likely be audiophile grade.

Snapdragon 835 doesn't stand a chance against Exynos 9 for raw power and camera/video capabilities. US consumers won't see Exynos Galaxy devices until 2020 when the patents expire allowing carriers to switch to GSM from CDMA (which Qualcomm have a stronghold on).

4Gb is enough for most PCs, including gaming so I can't see why a phone would need more? How about they optimise the OS first?

The OS is optimised, people don't seem to understand the concept of pre-fetch caching and why the OS using most of your ram is actually a good thing.

It's a lovely looking phone have to admit.
But absolutely no need to upgrade from my s7E really.

I think of you don't use vr, games etc etc, there is less and less reason to upgrade.
Basically I don't think specs do it for me any more. It's more things like how good the camera really is, and any new innovations.
4gb of ram is more than enough for me. I have zero performance issues with this current phone.

Most of users base must be in the same boat

If they really want to push VR and give oculus a run they probably should have made it a 4k display. Ideally you could have had a 4k VR mode and back down to Quad HD for normal usage.

VR ideally needs at least 4K.

I'm disappointed that it only has 4GB of ram but its not a deal breaker for me.

Still though I enjoy my Samsung phones and I will most likely be upgrading to this from the Note 4. 3 Years is enough time with one phone for me.

It's the one thing I despise about Samsung Android devices!

Now that it isn't hardware limited I would hope...hope...that they allow you to customise their on screen navigation keys and flip them.

Well my old HTC M8 allowed you to have the 3 (or 4 if you wished) onscreen buttons to be in any order you wanted. Even with hardware buttons, I don't see why they need a certain icon to remind you each time what they do. They could have a simple dot for left and right button and allow to change their use in the OS.
