**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

^ I've been thinking the same. My S6 is perfect and does everything I need. I don't need to upgrade but I guess we've all fallen into the routine of upgrading every two years as the technology has been getting progressively better but now it appears the rate of new features etc is stagnating somewhat.

If I compare my S6 to my S2, it makes the S2 look like one of the cheap £50 smart phones available. If I compare the S6 to the S8, it doesn't seem like a worthwhile upgrade, especially if it's going to cost £800+.

Still got my s6 edge plus great phone but battery is getting abit annoying, can't see the s8 been much better on the battery which is my main thing now, camera speed ect is great still on s6 edge plus.

I also went from an S2 to an S6. Another 4 year gap would take me to the S10. I think another 2 years sounds about right with the S6 tbh.

How much are the latest iPhones these days ?
Do they cost Less or more then £800 ?

As i can't see the S8 being priced higher what ever the latest iPhone price is..

£599 the 32GB iPhone 7 and £699 the 128GB iPhone 7

If they go more then I'm definitely out of the S8, it becomes ridiculous at that point.

I'm more and more tempted to go the way of the One Plus these days after having swapped over to the iPhone 7 in September and looking for a route back to Android.

Looks like S8 will bring about a new standard theme which is very minimalist. Quite welcome. I bet this will also ship with Android 7.1.1.

I fully expect the Note 8 to have the fingerprint sensor embedded into the screen now that it has been made clear the reason the S8 doesn't have it is because Synaptics were unable to meet the deadline so Samsung binned the idea at the last minute.

Why? It doesn't look like ass, you know it and everyone else does too. In fact popular opinion online from all leaks so far suggests it's the most liked front design of a Samsung phone yet. Note 7 still sits high up, but that's not a phone we can consider for obvious reasons.

Good news, looks like we will have a matte black option with the S8, hurrah!

I praised Sony back in the Z5 days for releasing a phone which didn't collect fingerprints on the back, and no need to attach a dbrand skin, so this is very welcome.

I have yet to see a white phone that looks professional/sleek/not cheap :p

To be fair I always felt Sony did a good job with their white handsets, particularly the Z3 and Z3 Compact.

Black is usually the colour I go for in phones so I'm hoping the S8 looks a lot better in the end but I'm just now that convinced...yet.

I won't pay more than 500 quid for a phone, so the s8 is out for me. Also don't like the rear fingerprint sensor.

I'll be sticking with my s6 for another year i think. Still a great phone anyway.

Although the battery, which has never been great, seems to be holding a little less charge lately :(
