**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

It's a bit rubbish the US customers get the SD835 and we get the Exynos processor. Why do phone manufacturers think it's OK to give us lesser specs than US folk get?

The Exynos in the s7 was generally regarded as superior to the snapdragon, so there's that. Also the only reason Samsung use the Snapdragon in the US is due to it being compatible with all the funky signals they use.

No idea. But I'd rather we had the SD835. LG pulled a similar trick with the G6 and HTC have done this sort of thing before

You want the chipset even if its worse?

I won't expect 7.1 for the S8 any time soon after release, and then they have to release it for the S7, which is even further away.

And guess what, Oreo is due out Q3 this year anyway, there's no hope of Android O on the S7 this year at all at this rate. Let alone the S8.

The LG G6 already comes with 7.1, and will likely get O shortly after anyway, as will Sony devices whether it's via concept program or stable channels.

We live in sad times indeed.
u live in sad times! whos forcing you to use none nexus/pixel devices?

Seriously if you want the latest and greatest OS, go for pixel and nexus. They are amazing devices.

i will be keeping my S7e a while longer :)

cant fault it and quite possibly the longest ive kept same model phone in a long time

The only thing preventing me from ordering the S8+ is the apparent lack of confirmation whether we are getting the VR headset and controller in the UK.
If the US wasn't getting it either i'd have no problem but it's a matter of principle.

As I understand the Exynos also has a better GPU?

I've gone for the samsung upgrade programme.

It should work out far superior to paying for the phone outright as I change my handsets almost yearly!

Looking forward to it - This Z3 I'm rocking is the longest phone I've ever had

That reminds me - where the official ocuk *********OFFICIAL SAMSUNG S8*************** thread ;)

LOL!

I was literally just about to post that too except from android central! :D

So Samsung knew that the placement was idiotic yet they still went ahead and placed it there lol....

Other than FPS position and high price, the phone seems pretty great overall i have to say. I like the polished metal frame. I would love a hands on...ASAP. S8+

My sis will be going to this from the Note 4.

Just placed the order for my upgrade. Much better deal in store at Carphone warehouse.

Currently paying £34.99 for my S6 with only 2GB of data

S8 plan is £35.99 with 7GB data - was a slightly higher upfront cost of £200 but i should be able to sell my S6 for £100 which makes that ok.

Even MKBHD (as most know, has big hands) finds the fingerprint scanner location to be problematic :D

I just don't get why Samsung went with that position when they knew themselves it was going to be an issue

But yup other than those 2 things you mentioned it does seem to be nice "overall", just a shame that all these flagship prices are ridiculous now (no doubt brexit can be largely thanked for this...)
