**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

I ordered direct with Samsung on 5th April, checked this morning and no progress. We can only hope we will get it this week, knowing my luck I'll get delivery when I'm away for 2 1/2 weeks from the middle of next week.

This whole order and get it up to 8 days early is a complete farce, everyone and his dog is advertising it as get it 8 days early. You would have thought it would only apply to those who ordered with Samsung directly :(:(

Thats what I thought hence why the pre-order with them.
I read somewhere that stock of the s8 in black had already been allocated to us guys who pre-ordered from samsung direct so other suppliers may have stocking issues with it.

Someone did say though that the samsung order's aren't considered 'processed' until they actually ship the item which is still a couple of days away yet.

Got this whole week off, praying it arrives this week lol!

I ordered a Samsung Tab S3 from their own store as a pre-order weeks before it was launched and it did the same, wasn't processed until it was shipped if that helps!

I cancelled my pre-order in favour of getting it via John Lewis, free SD card and I don't need to trek 30 miles to the UK Mail depot when they inevitably miss me!

Not seeing a lot of love for the S8+ around, I was tempted but I think even the S8 is about the same size as the Note 4 I'm using and thats plenty, larger battery might have been nice though.

I'm going from note 4 to s8, the s8+ feels/looks extremely weird with that long screen, the s8 screen is a bit smaller than note4's when it comes to videos etc (unless you're going to watch in s8's native ratio) but for productivity it offers same amount of space. A trade I would happily take as the s8 is a lot easier to use one handed due to being slimmer and will fit into pockets where the note4 sometimes couldn't.

While the note 4 is still a decent device, it doesn't offer the flagship performance that I am used to anymore being over 30 months old unfortunately! I don't really use the pen either anymore.

Funnily enough though looking at benchmarks it still goes toe to toe with most sub £300 devices.

Good to hear from a fellow Note 4 upgrader! I hadn't looked too hard at similarities but as I don't want an iPhone this seems the only thing on offer, now I've also got the Galaxy Tab S3 in my bag the smaller screen size is plenty, agree on performance, the Note 4 has lasted well but its noticeably slow at times.

Thats a defo nope to barclays app on rooted phones dude

Never used voice recognition on phones - don't see the point in letting the battery drain pending 'buzz words'.

+1 - i ordered same day and order progress is still sat at 'not processed'..... If they mess me around with the pre-order I'll just ditch them and go sim-free elsewhere

Chill, jesus christ. People whining because their status isn't changing days before the item is due to ship is embarrassing.

It's crazy, I'll be rooting the device asap, but crap like this must makes me want to get a pixel.

really tempted to get something tolerable and wait until the pixel 2... I have never had a samsung phone and this kinda turns me off...

My MPD order is showing as awaiting handset release with an ETA of the 28th, despite saying that the S8+ would be released on the 20th? Hope it's wrong!

MPD were only ever promising early delivery on EE, I spoke to them and clarified this....and given the EE deals were crap I'm assuming you didn't get one of those so you've got little chance I'm afraid

I'm hopeful for the 20th for a black s8 from carphone warehouse on EE upgrade. Should know Wednesday if it's getting dispatched. If it doesn't so be it not desperate for it but would be nice. Ordered a spigan case as well.

I'm amazed at the amount of people blindly paying whatever samsung ask for.

Expect prices to go up another 100 quid for the s9.
The prices will go up, and not only on the Samsung phones. Suprised nobody complains about chinese phones going from £200 to £340 to £440 over 12month period but Samsung keeping same prices they've had for years is suddenly a problem (if anything the s8 is probably cheapest phone they've released since like s2 considering exchange rates) . Guess what - every single mobile phone on the market is more expensive now than it was last year.

Which phone do you have?

Exactly, I wish people would stop moaning about prices, the Pound has lost 20% v the Japanese Yen since this time last year, thats why most electronics have soared since last June.

I still have an s6 which i waited a few months for the price to drop. Think i paid 470 for it a few months after launch.

It's true everything is going up in price but the s8 seems particularly extortionate in price.
