That goes with literally anything you buy these days though, you want a 4k OLED tv at release date, expect to pay a premium for it, then watch the price drop like a stone after a few months, same with mobiles, nothing has changed in all the years i've had phones, sometimes i've purchased at release date and paid the premium, other times i've waited a few months and grabbed a good deal.I still have an s6 which i waited a few months for the price to drop. Think i paid 470 for it a few months after launch.
It's true everything is going up in price but the s8 seems particularly extortionate in price.
I'm not even bothered if my phone comes on 21st or 28th either tbh, i'm in no rush, it'll be here when it gets here. I'm just chuffed with the deal i've got as the contract is virtually free at £1.58 a month over the cost of the actual phone (taking spotify into consideration). I don't even think prices will drop too much either in even 6 months, look at the S7 edge, that's still commanding £500 over a year after launch sim free.
As i said earlier in the thread, (and others have also said), the price isn't even that bad, considering the S6 edge was MORE EXPENSIVE than the S8 at launch 2 years ago, and that's without taking the £ / yen rate being 20% less than a year ago. If anything, the S8 is much better value.
