**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Is the transition from say an S7 to S8 pretty much a case of logging into your Samsung cloud account on S8 and getting the last backup of your device? In theory, guess that will pull across apps settings etc bit like how an iPhone sync works with iTunes
I am just going to use Samsung Smart Switch always works for me, Most apps like WhatApp now do there own backups aswell

Got mine :)

Feels really nice to hold I was slightly worried about the increase in size but it is actually a fraction narrower than my S6 :) Obviously harder to reach top of the screen though

Also didn't realise that it is completely black. no Aluminium edge

Well... 9 days to go for me I guess since chitter chatter flopped. Tempted to cancel and get from CPW but i guess I can wait a week for 80£ difference in price.

Feels REALLY nice in the hand - much better than my Z3. Feels very natural to hold thanks to the curves.
Whats with the white sticker on the back ruining it though? lol - woulda thought samsung would have come up with a better design for showing the IMEI and serial number of the device!

I ordered mine on the 03/04 direct with Samsung and it has had a status of shipped for the past two days.

I called up Samsung and there is an automated message explaining that all phones currently being processed will arrive from now until the 24th April. I understand that people that have ordered with CPW yesterday have received their phone already.

Are you guys going to switch the screen setting to the full uhd or keep it on 1080p?

GSM Arena said there's pretty much no effect on the battery life at the highest resolution. I imagine it'll reduce frame rates on the most demanding games if that's your thing.

ok figured out how to transfer data. When setting up the S8 it gives you an option to copy data from any other device using samsung smart switch software.
Connect the two devices together using USB (you've got ALL the connectors you need in the box with the phone to allow this).

Easiest way is to just use your existing USB cable for your existing phone and stick the USB-C convertor on the USB side. This allows you to connect both phones.
Download and install samsung smart switch from the play store/ios store on to your existing device.

Copying across data from my Z3 - works with any Android / iOS device (certain versions of OS required)

Contacts, messages, calendar, call log, bookmarks, apps, images, music, video are all options available - worked a treat with the Z3 :)

SPC still says 'Awaiting handset release' which i expected. Probably because they've been inundated with Pre-orders. Dont mind waiting till release.

Yeah I would have loved black glass with silver frame but it wasn't an option

I am a little disappointed there is no black with gunmetal or silver frame.

I do not like the black anodised metal frame, so i will most likely be going for orchid grey when i eventually get over the price tag and cough up the cash.

I was tempted to get orchid grey just for the frame, then dbrand skin the back...But then I changed my mind when I saw the frame and realised it wasn't exactly silver

Definitely check it out in store before you decide I say!

I have a tracking number from Samsung now. But it doesnt seem to work yet. I am gearing myself up for disappointment

Tracking numbers never usually work as soon as they are issued. Even stuff from OcUK delivered via DPD doesn't have a tracking number that works the minute you are given it.

Yes, good advice i think.

I'm planning a trip to Leicester (closest samsung store to me) to check them out in the flesh before deciding.

Not sure when I'll be able to buy in store though...
