Just noticed the site mine is coming from says:

Wonder what TCO03 means

TCO Development is a company that leads development toward better and sustainable work environments for people working in office environments.

TCO'03 Displays is the fourth generation quality and environmental labeling standard from TCO Development. It is a standard for cathode ray displays, (CRT) and flat panel displays, (FPD). :)
It means they are built to the highest standard.

Just phoned OcUK and they were as much use as a chocolate teapot, and still no ETA. Think I will be cancelling my order soon and going elsewhere.
Watch out, i cancelled then decided to spend the cash (and a bundle more) on a rig upgrade...

Don't think anywhere else has definate ETA's either. Samsung or their supply chain have always been dodgy at getting stuff over here.

I know, they need to be kicking Samsung up the a*se and getting these goods in stock! This is a joke.

I heard there's an A and S model. What's the difference?

Also does this monitor support 1080i/p ?

The A panel is AOC and S is samsung panel, there has been a few people getting A panels on this forum http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1144130&page=21 i guess it's look of the draw which panel you get and no it doesn't do 1080i/p as far as i know because it's 1680x1050.

1:1 mapping is this

If you select 1280x1024 in windows, you get only the center 1280x1024 pixels displaying the image, if you select filled with aspect, it stretched proportionally still with boarders.

This is in native mode. Without 1:1 any res lower than the monitor's 1680x1050 res will be stretched to fill. A bit like watching 4:3 programs in a widescreen TV with things looks stretched sideways.

Notice the black boarders all round? This is on the Philips monitor.

thanks for the clarity on this. I too was a bit confused. I hear however you can use software to take care of this. Is this true and if so which software?

I am thinking of getting the 20" version but not sure if my X1800XT can handle 1680x1050....
I remember reading mrk's posts about the performance in games when he moved to a 20" screen. He had a 7800gt at the time and he said the performance hit wasn't very noticeable. An x1800xt is significantly faster than the 7800gt so you should be able to play most games on high quality but with lower AA/AF.

How does my gfx card compare to a 7800gt?

It's quite slow compared to the 7800GT. You would see a significant increase in performance if you got one. Or an X1800XT.

Do you think my card will strugle with this monitor running CZ?

I REALLY can't afford a new gfx card I want to make this one last a bit longer since it was like £400 quid when I got it even if it's only like 50p now LOL.

I will phone the buyer of the 226BW's tomorrow to see if they have pushed the date back again

Guru, I see that you're also following this topic at [H] :D

It seems for now that HDMI connection is not likely (for now, at least). This has made me consider the LG, however, the Sammy is generally getting better reviews, so I'm still favouring the 226BW.

I also think that you are all worrying about your GFX cards too much! I run a lot of games (generally 1+ years old, admittedly) at 1600x1200 with GF 6800 card. If a game is struggling, turn down the res, stretch the image (while keeping the proportions!) and still enjoy a 22" widescreen monitor!

could i be really cheeky here :p and ask someone who owns this monitor to load up counterstrike 1.6 and play de_dust2 and post a few screenshots? 1 of B tunnels if possible just want to see how light/dark it makes it?

thanks :D i will love anyone who does this long time and they get a e-cookie too
