I did a few more IFR Circuits offline at Cardiff in the ATR in between other things. 2 out of 3 landings were good.

Couldn’t log into mumble last night for some reason?

Got on Vatsim yesterday did a flight from Edinburgh to Manchester(only ones online) with the ATR. I was preparing the plane and then Edinburgh went offline so took off on my own. A nice flight down to Manchester, picked up Manchester approach(it was busy because he was the only one online) he guided me in and landed perfectly

I’m really enjoying flying on Vatsim. My only issue is that I struggle to hear the these guys, they talk very quick :rolleyes:

yes I’m half deaf but yesterday I had to ask the controller to repeat loads. Getting a new headset.

Blue(anybody) what do you use to capture your vids and what do you use to make your vids? I use Fraps which is great. For some reason I can’t download Windows movie maker(which is good plus it has an option for HD) I managed to find another movie maker which is fine but couldn’t see the option for HD? I also thought when you upload to You Tube you can make them HD?

I was looking at the video I posted yesterday again. My original looks so much better, with the rain and lightning and thunder, the one I posted doesn’t do it justice!

I’m around tonight if anybody is keen? Can do from 8ish

Edit: Our firewall at work is so cr*p (I do work for the government, so got no excuse really

)... every time I try look at flight stuff it comes back " blocked due to Adult and pornography” it’s because of the words simulation, I think!

Put that you're (still) a new user in your FP notes and if you don't understand, you can get them to 'text' you the command as a private message. In FSINN you could put .msg EGFF_APP Pls rpt last instr. as txt.

As you get more familiar; there is only a finite amount of things they can say in stages of your flight...

Yes I always add “I’m new to Vatsim” in comments. I will get them to do that next time thanks.

I’m pretty much up to speed now with the first stage i.e. contacting Twr/Grnd for clearance, push and start, taxi and departure. Need to practise more now with contacting Twr and the landing. On that note, when I approaching a airport which has Twr online are my first words “Manchester Twr request full stop landing” or is it just radio contact

Ok cheers, so you must be using the higher settings in Fraps then? That’s why you might be getting the bad lag. I know with Fraps anything you record above 30fps, it lags badly.

Silly question.....what is the difference between, Heathrow Xtreme and the Heathrow on VFR Airfields Vol 1? If I buy Vol 1 do I get Heathrow Xtreme?

If only TWR is online, you get yourself established on the active runway ILS, then you say:

"Manchester Tower, Speedbird123 is established on the localizer"

They say:

"Roger Speedbird123, winds 'whatever', cleared to land runway 23 Right"

You say:

"Cleared to land 23 Right, Speedbird123"

After landing you could say, if they haven't told you to already:

"Speedbird123 requesting Taxi to the terminal"

After which they'd say:

e.g. "Speedbird123 Taxi to Gate 12 via, Juliet, Bravo, Alpha"

Then you'd say:

"Taxi to Gate 12 via, Juliet, Bravo, Alpha. Speedbird123"

If Manchester Radar was online, they'd establish you on the localizer and say 'contact twr on '123.45'.

Then you'd tune into Twr and go from the top of this speech.

I don't think you do get Heathrow Xtreme. You just get the basics with better visuals for each airfield. I've the Vol1 The SW one and it is good.

Well......What an awesome evening. Did some circuits around Cardiff in Cessnas tonight. Had a few connection issues at the start but on thr forth attempt we got it. The shared cockpit coupled with Vatsim ATC was great.

Big shout out to !blutetonic! for his help...thanks mate.

Seriously...any other pilots wanting to fly some laid back airtime with great tutoring should join in.

I was doing touch and go's with heavy cross winds with !bluetonic! as co-pilot.

It was a headache to get the shared cockpit, but once we did it was fantastic. VFR Circuits at Cardiff. We nearly at an 'incident' in the air, but left-orbits took us out of the way. The real world weather was effective and thanks to stevie_vee, Vuvuzela and Wycliffe, radar on Cardiff Vatsim, for a great flying session.

Great night last night...So much better than the other night, good fun indeed.

I did log back on, but it was quite late (cargo to drop off)I did a flight in Alaska(can’t remember the airports)and it was very good great scenery and the airport I landed was very tricky. :eek:

We should all try it out.

Very good prices for some excellent scenery. Do you think there is much difference between V2 and v3? You can see its summer, all the summer sales are on....(well sort of summer :rolleyes:

Look one page back, freeware for Spain plus if you look about 5 pages back a link to Greece too.

I'm thinking of buying the VFR scenery but not sure if there is a massive difference from v2 to v3

i was fidlding around with my new ram's timings earlier, after id finished (there were a couple of bsods inbetween) i started up fsx and everything appears to be corrupt. it first started on 800x600, models were all oveer the place and i think the terrain in in some sort of 8-bit mode. could it just be a corrupt fsx.cfg or is it reinstall everything time?

edit, this is an fsx specific thing, the rest of the system is working fine
