The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Same here. Probably will be a while yet before we see inside it. Although the 777 looks great I might be tempted to wait for the 747.

No doubt I prefer the 744 over the 777 - but it's going to be a couple of years before we see the 744 I imagine (considering it's unlikely we'll be seeing the 777 in the next 6 months).

Lukeharvest, Soya or any one of you who have FSX looking great, what REX texture theme do you use?

I often use Random themes when it comes to clouds & sky themes but always HD clouds though. When it comes to water, Sparkling is my favorite for daytime and for dusk/dawn any of the high reflecting themes.

My suggestion is to experiment and stick with mixing your themes, you will end up with probably several personal favorite but TBH, all of REX texture themes are excellent.

While we're on subject of screen shots, enjoy this follow-up from my previous post, again, all unedited shots.

I think the point Rob was hinting at in the thread was the development time has been significantly reduced. I'd be very surprised if it was as long as another 6 months for the release of the 777.

ringo747, live a little, buy both :D

Well, I wouldn't want to say I have "insider" knowledge, but I have it on good authority that January 2013 is a realistic time frame for the T7. :p

soya great photos as always Wow:eek:

Luke I'm using a 670

Did you move up from a GTX580? Even still, what kind of FPS degradation do you get at, say, UK2000 EGLL (if you have it) with the NGX when you set the clouds to overcast? As on my GTX 580 I still see a bit of a drop and was wondering what kind of drop there is for you?

Luke I've always been ATI but moved to Nvidia when I got back into FSX a few months back.

I have Aerosoft's Mega Heathrow and UK2000 Gatwick Extreme. When I'm at these two airports fps drops to about 15 doesn't matter what clouds setting or plane I use. Any other area I get a constant 30fps.

That is what will probably happen but I'd rather have one addon that I use consistently and get to know inside out. 747 definitely my favorite but the 777 could have some of the real nice gadgetry implemented.

Maybe posted already but just to prove how serious vatsim is... they have updated their airspace restrictions to mirror the real world equivalent for the olympics!

I agree with one of their forums posts is that they don't entertain the idea of hijacks or terrorism and that's what these restrictions hopefully counteract. Put '7500' into your transponder and it logs you off

V and I flew in the ATRs from EGLC to EGCC. London Control North was online, London Control South came online, EGCC Twr was on too.. But after getting clearance, all ATC logged off.

I flew into the hold at Dayne and did a descent before doing a decent manual landing at Manchester.

I still need to sort getting voice comms coming through my headset whilst keeping all other FSX sounds through my speakers. Having a little trouble at the moment. Maybe when that is sorted I can jump onto VATSIM.

You use the FSDT traffic light thing with FSINN.

You can set what sounds come thorough through the options in there.

Is your headset USB?

Using FSInn, and I've set the headphone output as the voice output, and my speakers output (Optical/SPDIF) is for the main sound. The same applies to the FSX settings.

The headset is a standard 2x3.5mm jack headset, although it has a built in USB amplifier for when used with Xbox.

Hi guys, can you recommend me some add-ons to improve my fsx experience? Cheers.

I think the first recommendation you will get is the excellent NGX (737 NG Series) by PMDG. It's a learning curve, and you will NEED to read the manuals and run the tutorial flights as it's extremely close to the real plane.

Yeah I've seen that mate, definitely getting it. Just wondering if there are any to improve graphics as such? I've heard of REX - do you recommend that?
