The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Yeah I've seen that mate, definitely getting it. Just wondering if there are any to improve graphics as such? I've heard of REX - do you recommend that?

I think REX is one of the most widely-used texture addons. Again, you'll certainly get a vote for that from most in this thread. I have never used any texture add-ons though, so I couldn't give a personal opinion :)

Hi guys, can you recommend me some add-ons to improve my fsx experience? Cheers.

Jason if you new to FSX and want to start learning slowly. I recommend the Just Flight F-Lite range (A320 is nice)http://www.justflight.com/category/f-lite (20% off this weekend)easy to fly but there is some reading. As squerble said get yourself one of the more realistic planes. I have the iFly 737, its a fantastic plane cheaper than the PMDG plus you get the whole range for the same price. They also had a major update about a month or so ago.

If you don't want to jump straight to jet planes then look at these guys. http://www.carenado.com/CarSite/Portal/index.php?accion=products or go to http://www.realairsimulations.com/home.php?page=home, also very nice planes.

Rex is brilliant and highly recommended, also get yourself some airport add ons UK2000 do a whole lot. Aerosoft do the Mega range.

These guys are also very good FTX Orbx.

Was told about Fly Tampa this last week. Also very nice scenery.

Hope that helps!

Thanks man, appreciate that. And I've played FSX before, so I know how things work. That said, haven't played for a while so I might be a bit rusty.

No worries. Lots of people on here to help. I'm back after a 5/6 year break and loving it. I fly on Vatsim pretty much all the time. Also signed up with a great VA, FedExva

If anyone will be online (VATSIM) tonight that would be nice, really need to get a first session in :D

I will be on at 8.30 do the Opening ceremony. Flying Southampton to Biggin Hill

For all those interested in VATSIM, we can run on session on Monday and Tuesday for beginners.

Vatsim provides a decent real world Air Traffic Communications environment for which we can follow real world procedures for flying.

Get and install Mumble Client for a communicating with us
Get a VATSIM ID
Get a Gamespy ID

I'll be online at somepoint late, late tonight and sporadically through the weekend.

I like the look of this fly-in so I'm booked in and straight at the deep end :D.

I'm booked to land between 1900-1930z if anyone else is around. Flight will be EGCC-EGLL, estimated departure at 1840z, I will be on as UKV11X (Skyways).

my slot is 20.30- 21.00 - just doing VFR

squerble - I can see you at Manchester, have a good flight.

Blue I'm going to do my flight and then I will be on later too. will keep an eye on here

Well that was tough. Perhaps chucking myself into Heathrow on a busy schedule on my first time ever online wasn't the best idea but I scraped through with only a small telling off from London Control. :D

yes very brave with Heathrow on a night like tonight, well done though!

LOL I just had FSX crash twice on the trot yesterday on finals into Gatwick.. I've decided to give it a day or so and try again, that way I wont get quite so aggravated :D

Its just one of those things, Annoying, but a deep breath, maybe a short break and back too it :D

Luckily some addons come with a total system recovery feature (very handy in terms of FMC programming) in case of crash, such as the PSS 777.
Saved me a whole bunch of hassle!

When I fly with FedEx we use VASF5 and that has a save option which is great if FSX crashes, still frustrating though!

I will be online about 2ish if anybody wants to fly, we can log onto Vatsim and see which ATC is online.
