The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

FedExvac are great. Having a good time with them.

Ditto - singed up a wee while ago and managed my first flight last week. The logging system is very slick and love the way it ties in with 'rewards'. The flexibility with aircraft is great too.

You don't happen to know if compressed time flight is allowed (offline) with them?

Rich

I doubt it very much. I've yet to come across a VA that allows compressed time. Otherwise what's the point? You could rack up the hours with out the effort and it devalues the whole VA reward scheme.

edit: I just checked there website. Like most VA's they have an ACARS system and also the facility to fly on VATSIM so compressed time will be specifically prohibited..

Hi All,

I've been a bit quiet the past couple of weeks. Busy at home and work. I'm hoping to get on a few times this week so I'll keep an eye out as to what you guys are up to.

Nice one Rich, what is your number? I will keep an eye out for you. Mine is FDX2686. That’s why I choose them, they have a great choice of aircraft and a great choice of routes. I’ve mainly been flying Europe (my base is Paris) and North Africa but going to head across to America and do some flights over there. As mentioned before too, if FSX crashes the system saves your flight and you can continue from when it crashed and don’t have to start again.

I get on Teamspeak with them too when I can.

Optimizing fsx is a time consuming process I tell ya for sure.

BTW, what do I need top set-up vatsim? Do I need an headset?

You can use text, but it's a pain. All you really need is a microphone - but I'd recommend a headset and putting it on a separate sound card (or get a USB one) so you can have all communications go through your headset and everything else through speakers.

Ok I'm signed up to vatsim, have installed squakbox - yet I see no option in fsx to join online (except for gamespy). Any help fellas?

What you do is load up your flight as normal, as if you were flying offline. Once you're loaded up and on a gate (don't load up on a runway) and as long as your comms are working you can start SB4 and connect via that. Don't start SB4 up from inside FSX but run it as an external application outside of FSX - if you run it internally, it'll destroy FPS. The comms need to be functioning (so in the NGX, for example, you need the battery on) else SB4 will quit with an error.

Are you in the Europe division of VATSIM?

Haven't a clue mate.

Does anyone know why the the throttle keeps changing by itself? Auto-throttle is not engaged yet for some reason the throttles keep changing. As you can imagine, coming in for final only for the throttles to power up messes everything up.

It should tell you on that link I sent you, what division and region you're a part of.
