The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

I'm not on tonight. Hopefully tomorrow. I've installed uk2000 heathrow scenery. Very nice I must say. Makes it so much easier to taxi. Only get 20fps with rex and ifly 737 but it runs very smoothly so no complaints from me.

Jason2, that's brilliant.

The rest of you, please join us tomorrow.

From 7.30-8pm tomorrow. Vatsim and gamespy accounts at the ready. Mumble voice client is where we meet.

If there's 6 of us, we can do shared 3x Cessna cockpits VFR for VATSIM newcomers.

If there's less, V wanted to do an NDB VOR approach into somewhere.. which is more Chaders expertise.. I haven't got a clue..

Hi Blue,

I'll be on tomorrow then. Did V say what sort of aircraft he wanted to do the NDB approach in? Is he wanting to do it the easy way In the 737 or the tricky way?

Hello,

I will be around tomorrow too.

I want to land in Aspen. It's about a 45min flight from Denver. I want do it in a Cessna Caravan.

I did it with my VA on Saturday and had a nightmare. Ok it didn't help that I was at a BBQ all day and had 15 pints in me :D

Here is the chart.

That sounds like a good challenge. Is it the default Caravan you use? That's got a HSI so should be reasonably straight forward to fly the approach.

I use the Carenado but we can use the defaults ones.

Looking at that chart chaders can you land it like a ILS landing?

the guy who won(we had a competition) landed it with a -10 vs

Remember it's a LOC DME approach so it has no glideslope. I'm guessing that's due to the terrain (it can bend the gs signal). So you'll need to fly it in VOR Lock and VS. We should try to use a gamespy session so I can talk you through it first without the complication of ATC.

Blue and I spoke about this on Sunday. Blue thought if it’s a LOC/DME approach it does have a GS? The chart shows one?

Colorado Control tends to be online plus Approach for Aspen, but usually they get on quite late. So yes we can do a Gamespy just in case they do get online.

Flew into London City last night with the ATR, missed the approach completely  Had to go around and try again. It wasn’t much better but landed OK.

Tower was online. I was pretty much on final and he went offline. Found that quite strange, thought he would wait for me to land at least. Oh well....

Hi Mate,

LOC/DME means Localizer with DME so no glideslope element. What the chart shows is a vertical profile to be flown with various altitude checks against a DME distance. We'll fly it by using VORLOC to fly the localiser and VS mode to meet these altitudes. Now I'm not used to the layout of these charts but I'm sure by tonight I'll have figured it out. Maybe I can find a jeppesen or Lido chart for the airport that will be easier to follow.

Bought a new headset today and still it sounds muffled. Gotta be some settings causing it but what? I'm puzzled.

Is this a haiku? :p

Ermm loads of volume settings everywhere.

1. Windows 'Sounds'
2. FSINN Volume control
3. FSSDT Control panel
4. FSX

Obvs if your headset sounds okay in Windows and FSX offline, then it narrows it down.
