3.7 GB RAM should be plenty.

In the first intance:
Put your water slider down to low.
Turn vehicles, boats, airport traffic off.
Put cloud level at the lowest.
Turn off anti-aliasing in FSX
Turn AI traffic off.
Turn tooltips off

Also, all fsx config good stuff is automagically done with the link I posted.

When I get home later, I will add a link(on home PC). It has lots of tweaking tips etc.

Blue- I like the Aussie, she looks rough and ready mate! :D

Cool thanks, I tried the above last night, no real improvements so I have put FSX on the back burner for now and concentrating on FS2004, which is a big frustrating. Going to add more memory and a 7770 card probably this week and see how things go.

On another note, anyone use FS Global?

I messed up by hitting a wrong key combo so my 2d panel disappeared and then got flustered and I hit my App button too early, hit a large right hand orbit before a clumsy manual landing.

So my question is, once I hit 'app', it seemed that I then couldn't go back to change my 'hdg'. How would I disable 'app' and then go back to change the other MCP bits?

Would I hit the Toga button?

Sorry gents, I've been really busy at the minute.

To get out of the above situation you can detune both nav radios from the ILS APP mode should dissarm shortly after. Then just retune them. Alternatively you can engage CWS (so the AP doesn't need to come off) and re-cycle the flight directors. Then just build the modes back up before going into CMD.

As a test, I did hit 'toga' and then cancel and manage to re-engage, but I'd rather do it the 'proper-job' way.

I did some good flying over the weekend. I went from Exeter to Leeds/Bradford in the ATR. And from Bristol to Cork in the 737.

London Ctr was online as were Bristol del,gnd,twr,radar and Cardiff radar.

And I also managed some IFR circuits in the 737 last week.

I'm managing to disengage autopilot further and further out without messing my approach up, so there is some progress.

As for flying this week, they're asking for traffic at Bristol on Weds for a mentoring session.

It's my birthday next month, so if anyone did own a real-life 737 or ATR iand were flying to Kemble and wanted to let me fly it, speak up.
 
I remember playing FS2000, would have been about 13 years old at the time. Used to use teamspeak and log on and do radio with tower etc. Getting a new rig in the next few weeks and think FSX might have to be a purchase.

I do think the fiance' might think I have gone crazy when I start asking for clearences and what not online, but hey, not like she is really that important :)

Hope to fly with some of you guys and get some advice on the must get downloads for it.
 
hello and welcome to the fsx thread.

flight simming has come along way and if you've got this far, you must have read the other 85 or so pages to get up to speed.

when you're ready with your new rig, join in online. there's only Goose, Iceman and Maverick that fly regularly.

and ask away. addons are rex, pmdg or ifly. 737, plan g and aivlasit efb.
 
Finally got round to reinstalling FSX after switching to an SSD and upgrading my GPU

Didn't think a GPU upgrade would make much difference in this game but it was a huge improvement from my GTX260 to a 7850, with FPS capped at 30 on the GTX260 i was still seeing FPS drops but with the 7850 ive been able to up the fps cap to 60fps and it rarely budges.
 
Are we taking out the Caravan’s tonight? I heard Bush Pilots are looking for some new highly skilled pilots and our names were on the list?

They had a scout out when we were flying in Aspen or maybe they want me for my landings. I think they like it when you bounce 5 times before stopping.....:eek::p

There's mentoring at EGGD from 7pm, so I'll throw a few IFR circuits at them for an hour and then happy to do short-strips for those that are interested (:o:eek:) on gamespy or vatsim.

Wednesday is not a good night for me mate. I will be on but only after 9 or so. Tuesday and Thursday are best for me.
