The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

I'm saying if you restrict the Publisher field you may not see all the planes, even when you expect to.

Yes cheers aware of that. It's always worked so not sure why it's not now. Going to rebuild my fsx today anyway going to swap my ssd's around and give fsx the bigger one.

Are you buying it blue? If so fancy a visit to the Bristol Flight Sim Group meeting tomorrow, PC and all, to give us a demo ;)

I hadn't planned to immediately buy it. I've got most stuff I need in Photo VFR at the mo.

I've only been to one Bristol meet. I can't go tomorrow, but I should plan for another..

It's getting mixed reviews so far. More good than bad. Already planning a patch in the next few weeks.

fancy flying later?

fancy flying later?

Im at a wedding anniversary party tonight, otherwise it would be a yes.

In a fit of indulgence yesterday, I bought FSUIPC registered, Acu feel and some cheap multi core PC enhancement.

Oh dear !bluetonic! what have you bought now..

So I've been looking for bits of hardware, yokes, radios etc and kept my eye on a well known auction site. I'm not proud, I can accept 2nd hand stuff. :p (albeit with a few wipes of sanitiser).

So normally Mrs !bluetonic! is none-the-wiser with things I can purchase and 'hide'. She's not going to know I bought RAM or the endless planes and scenery for FSX.

So, we were out at the weekend, and I saw a natty little USB Numeric keypad with 'independent' num-lock. So I got to thinking that I can use my newly registered FSUIPC to have a little keypad nearer me that can operate nav, beacon, strobe, landing, taxi lights and enable yaw damper and auto pilot.

This works perfectly, with the only downside being that you have to press 'tab'(on the usb keypad) + your key.

Still browsing the auction site, I put a modest bid on some FSX hardware which I didn't think for the life of me would win the bid. ...and I won.. :o

So for a very reasonable amount, if it works out, I've got yoke(s), throttles (look like £275 ones), a huge radio stack which new can cost from £1000, pedals (which I don't need) and another copy of FSX..

Now for the downside, I've got a lot of other things coming up where I potentially should have spent the money. Including holiday, her birthday, Christmas etc So I can't to be seen to have all this new stuff in my room. It's not exactly discreet. :p

So if this works out and these bits arrive, 'technically' I can't use them until about April next year when my other expenses have been dealt with.. and then I can slowly merge this stuff into my room.. "look what I found in the loft .." Oh well..

I did go to the meeting, a few regulars were missing so it seemed a bit quieter than usual. Had a go on Pheonix RC and broke a dozen planes. Was ok until I needed to land them :)

Just say somebody gave it to you to test out! ;) “I've signed up to do some hardware testing” etc...... :p

How you finding them extra things you bought on the weekend, have they made a difference mate?

So who has bought Orbx England yet? As much as I love their products( I have all of Australia and all the NA scenery) I haven’t seen any screen shots that make me go “wow that’s brilliant”.
I’ve been a bit disappointed with it. I think my VFR scenery will do for a bit longer. I know they have a patch coming out soon to fix bugs etc.

So we flying tonight, maybe the ATR’s or some VFR?

I think I've got my excuse ready for the hardware.. it's so good, I'd even believe myself.. :o The auction win is still a 'seen to be believed' and until I receive it all, it's not a done-deal.

The little numeric keypad at £5 is a very good addition.
The Acu-feel seems to have added an extra 'something'. It makes the ATR very wobbly down the runway.. It's like everything that the Legacy does with regards to wind noise, pre-stall indicators, bumps and physics for the rest of the planes in your fleet.

And the multicore package at £5 is reasonable enough. With 8 cores (albeit on 2 x old CPUS) it automates what you could do manually in the Windows task manager with regards to affinity and priorities. Just when things were 'sweet'; my FPS test patch is now Guernesy with the ATR I went on VATSIM and my lowish, but reasonable frame rate dropped. :(

Yes, I can fly tonight. ATRS or VFR is good for me.

Either VFR From Biggin Hill to Bristol or Cardiff
Or IFR London City to Leeds Bradford or Manchester in the ATR.

Yes it does that too. You can specify which core is used... e.g you could run FSX on 4 cores (#5,#6,#7,#8), EFB or Plan-G on Cores #1 & #2, or a combo of any.

There are a couple of other settings for setting a priority, turbo boost?! and you can launch 1 of 3 groups.. eg, click launch group 1 for FSX and then click launch group two for EFB and Mumble client to load.

It's stuff the you could write as a cmd script, but this makes it easier and ultimately, it may just be a placebo effect.

What is the name of this sofware please? I want to have a read about it.

yes up for this :)

I saw they were bringing something 'new' to the market and this is it.

It's not something I'd jump to use. I'm happy in my own little bubble.

Flight1 have done something similar - and I don't know what the popularity is, so wouldn't know the market potential for this.

The best thing anyone could ever do for FSX is to do something to magically increase frame rates for reasonable hardware. A little USB2 stick with a 'supercell' FSX advanced frame rate processor would be a start..

Ages ago, I did buy FS Flying School which tutors you and improves your flying. And also FS2Crew for the iFly 737 and ATR...

BUT... When I don't use those things for a while, I always forget the voice commands, or what I'm meant to press. Then I lose interest again. There's enough things to remember without all that.

I found an Excel calculator for the ATR to give takeoff and landing speeds, so that feature could be useful for other planes in the REX software. But when you're not paying for fuel, it doesn't bother me too much. :p
