The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

They have no idea how you use P3D, I suspect that their Microsoft agreement says not for fun use as Microsoft stupidly thought they were still players in that market with Flight!

If you're using it to learn about flying in preperation for starting a PPL that sounds like education to me ;)

I (wrongly or rightly) assumed the education one was for home users and the professional was for flight schools or something. It is a bit weird having the 2 options, with such a vast price difference.

Without going back and reading their license my recollection was that Accademic is for a single user, the Professional one allows you to use it in a business environment and to use it as a tool to make yourself money. Thus our choice is Academic or possilby Developer. The later was the one I looked at as it allows you to run 2 copies and thus might make for some stonking multi-display configs (I'm sure you're not meant to club together with a friend and run one copy each for half price ;))

Well, after so much time without a joystick I have finally got one and installed FSX. Currently messing with the options to get it looking nice and run smooth. I haven't got the most powerful PC but currently I have got all settings at Ultra High and it seems to run fine with only a little loss in frames when I bank the plane. Over all its very playable.

Just about to install GEX Europe to see how much better the ground detail is and create a small quick flight plan in the Cessna. Probably from Manchester to East Midlands. Shouldn't take too long.

As this thread is big I found it a bit awkward to find out what sort of addons are best to install. Currently I have the Addit! addon manager and have installed some East Midlands airport pack with better detail and the like.

Anything else I should looking out for including scenery packs. I want to make the game look good. Preferably free although some cost is allowed..

This is a great guide.

Vuvuzela - Great pictures. That Orbx scenery looks fantastic.

And a warm welcome to the other members that are finally 'in the zone' for Flight Simming.

Thanks mate. I do like the Orbx airports and scenery. I think FTX Global is going to be a great change from the standard FSX scenery.

I'm looking forward to a lot more online flying this year :)

And on the back of your comment:

195 AUS = 125 GBP :p

As for online flying...
I should be back on track next week.
