The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

I just bought the TrackIR5 :)

Hope you have better luck that I had. I sold it in the end as I just couldn't get onto it at all. Seemed to be far too sensative.

I think it will be great for doing GA flights where you just want to view the scenery but flying in Virtual cockpit clicking lots of switches/buttons/dials wasn't great for me.

I hope to be online this evening for a VATSIM flight around 8pm if anyone wants to fly?

I will try my best. Babysitting tonight. If I can get the little one down in time I will join you.

I flew last night. Did a quick flight from Brussels to Gatwick. As I was approaching England ATC went off :(

Downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers last night and my fsx doesn't look as good. Not sure what has gone wrong.

Oh wow, I've not being paying attention to this thread and never noticed the Orbx England scenery was out!

England + Goodwood is too tempting :)

I don't suppose you already have the Horizon photo scenery for England? I'd love to know how well the Orbx airfields fit in with this, especially as they've announced they are to do a Kemble. I'm afraid vague land class scenery doesn't do it for me when flying over somewhere I know so I'm not ditching my England/Wales photos.

Playsims GenX VFR Scenery Volume 7 is out for preorder to be released 30/1/13.

At last we can now have all of UK mainland GenX vfr scenery :D

Think that just leaves Northern Ireland photo scenery to be released from them

I have just noticed that they are doing a 50% off sale on the Genx UK scenery! Very tempting to get Scotland North and South at that price.

I hope to fly on Vatsim very shortly, its just confusing to set up. Hopefully learn some new things, I normally fly IFR using the default ATC, using the default 737. I've tried the PMDG one but i just find it too complicated at times.

picnic, UK2000 airfields include Kemble with their South?! VFR package. There's birds in the sky and everything. !

The Badger, there's a lot to learn with VATSIM and the PMDG planes. Just take bite-sized chunks in.

Get the Mumble voice client installed as said in my previous links and join us in one of the chat rooms one evening to get you rolling.

Once you're 'there', it's a really satisfying experience flying the 737 online.

Thanks Blue but I know that, it's actually the cover photo on the DVD case for volume 1. And if you look carefully the picture is actually mirrored and there is a Eurostar with it's registration code backwards. I've actually flown in that very aircraft on a few occasions.

Although shed loads better than the default Kemble the UK2000 one is not without issues. That cover photo shows the planes in front of some blue hangers, where are they in the scenery. They are not! An Orbx makeover of Kemble would be welcome IMHO.

I shall see if I can get online sometime tomorrow and hopefully start learning. As I previously said I'm fine with actually flying ILS getting told what heading ect... But I can't manually do the instruments ect.

One word, absolutely awesome. Just messed around with it for 5 mins and really love it. Dont need to faf with 3 monitors. This is better And you really get freedom to look around your cockpit.

That's good to hear. I have tried the free version equivalent, but didn't get on too well with it. The Track IR is on my shopping list, but after a new PC.

I should be about tonight 8pm - 10pm(ish) if that's any good?

Gamespy was only a lobby/matchmaking service so direct IP connections should still have been possible. Good timing though as I arranged last night to try this out with a fellow member of the BFSG this evening. Hope the instructions works better than their website, using a 30" monitor and the page is still too wide to fit!

Edit: Goto the forum link rather than printer one and it's fine.

I should know about this as there is also a document on the CIX VFR Club site for cockpit sharing. I notice in here there is mention of port forwarding. It'll be interesting to see if that was required for Gamespy or still needed for direct cockpit sharing.

Folks.. can I ask.. what is the advantage of these multiplayer sessions of Fsx? I mean if you dont know the people and when you fly around how do you know where they are etc? I guess the real question what does it bring to the game?

Got the shared cockpit business up and running but I did have to open UDP Ports 6112 to 6122 through the router on for the host PC. Don't recall seeing that mentioned on the Virgin Forum linked to above.

@Cavallino - multiplayer can bring a whole new dimension to flight simming. I don't think I could ever game again really without other people, be it flying or driving. Don't do those shooting games. It can be used as a teaching tool, that was the reason for doing the shared cockpit test, for formation flying, for learning about real world procedures and ATC (see VATSIM) or for some combat.
