EVERYTHING ON THE IRIS STOREFRONT - $5 AUD

http://www.irisfss.com/storefront/index.php

Bagged the vulcan, f16 and A10 for less than £10 WOOP

Thanks for the heads up folks!

Just got the Vulcan and A10 too for $10 AUS!!

WOW!

Payment systems is back up and running by the way as of around midday!

That is crazy value, I bagged nearly the entire ship, @£50 for 11 aircraft and 1 sound set! I have the good feeling about having more aircraft to play with, I got a great deal plus I supported IRIS by buying their products. Now all I need is a PC with FSX installed :p

Between reinstalling your whole fsx and testing these out that should keep you busy over the Christmas holidays!

Lovely shots as always Soya. Where is the first Continental themed one taken? What scenery is that in the easyjet and 707?

Thanks, the continental I took a while back, its FTX Brisbane. The scenery taken with the Easyjet & 707 is taken just south of San Franciso area with the excellent freeware from Blue Sky Scenery.

Ah thanks. Yeah blue sky scenery is very good, got most of the Colorado / Rocky Mountains area, but it sure does take up hard disk space!!:(

FTX Australia impresses me more and more every time I see it.

Some night shots of the A10 for those who were crazy enough to not buy it for $5 (although I spent $20 on it :()

Lights off

Just got the ORBX Northern Rockies scenery and was blown away. If you have it already I suggest flying west out of Calgary (CBYW) at roughly 260 and just have fun. Some breathtaking views and fun canyon runs.

Nice shots there folks.

XMAS SALES TIPS

Most of you already know about the incredible IRIS sale, $5 AUS for any of their planes but here are some other Xmas bargain I thought I would let you all know about. (I bought nearly their entire fleet of aircraft, 12 aircraft at $60AUD = @£38!!!)

FlightSim Store 12 days to Xmas sale, some great bargains there http://www.fspilotshop.com/12daysale.php (Thinking about their Vertigo range which even beat the Xmas discount offered directly from Vertigo website)

VRS F18 special Santa code, 30% of their top quality F-18 product. http://www.vrsimulations.com/ (wanted this bird for a while but just a tad too expensive, got it now though at @£22)

The excellent airport range from FSdreamteam http://www.fsdreamteam.com/products.html if you enter their discount code (http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=3896.0) + add their multiple buy code you can get a very nice discount @30-40%. (Ended up buying nearly all their airports, total price for each individually would have been @£180, multiple buy and Xmas code discount came to £105)

More online stores are offering Xmas discount/code but none that I felt were worth putting up here, might want to check out Just Flight and make sure you shop around. Even if a place shows a discount, some other etailer may have a better discount, point in fact Vertigo Studios selling all their a/c at 30% discount, whereas Flightsim Store sell the same range at 50% discount.

Enjoy your shopping.

Cheers for the heads up on the FS Scenery Soya!

I think there may actually be a God, I thought I had missed the Iris Sale, got back from Venice today and it's still on!! :D Ordered the A10 and Vulcan.

Heads up again everyone,

http://www.facebook.com/captainsim

"Captain Sim: Holidays are coming, we have to do something! We are pleased to announce that exclusively at Captain Sim online store, from 15:00 23DEC2010 to 14:59 24DEC2010 (UTC) everything except two titles is Euro 9.99!"

:D

update: "Captain Sim: Yes, except the 707 and B-52. Everything else is 9.99. We'll see, may be we'd cut a bit from the 707 and B-52"

Finally got my RMA's bits and bobs back on Christmas eve, finally got round to getting FSX up and running and done all the usual tweaking. So today I managed to get my first play on the bargain that was the IRIS A10 for $5!

Just a few screenies from today's little jaunt. I have to say I am impressed with how FPS friendly this plane is.

Have just this minute popped over to PMDG's website for a quick check on the 737NGX.... I think the release is coming soon as training aids & manuals are now available :D Happy Days!

What do you guys use to take screen shots?

I had a pretty cool sun rise the other day, hit Print Screen and finished the flight. After I closed FSX, I copied it into paint and all I got was a blank screen.

The default key in FSX for screenshots is 'V' and they are automatically saved to the pictures folder. (In Vista) So theres no need to paste them into paint and you can press V until you are blue in the face.

they're saved as bmp files though, so if you're using an SSD as your main drive then make sure to clean the folder out or you end up with a massive folder lol.

Anyone else here eyeing up SB cpus? I'm thinking it might be time to ditch my old E8400 and make the leap if the price is right. Starting to get sick of blurry textures in busy areas and want to up the traffic a bit.

I have kind of decided to go down the route of waiting for MS Flight to be released before I throw anymore money at flight sim. I dread to think how much money has been spent on hardware, with the aim of getting FSX to run properly... lol

I bet in some cases it probably would have been cheaper to learn to fly

I can't wait, I just can't. I am hoping that Flight is multicore optimised (would be insane not to be) so a 2500K would be just right. The nagging thought is that it might run so well that an i5 would be plenty!

I am hoping along with it being multicore optimised, they may do a decent job in integrating modern GPU's processing power aswell as a better rendering engine. Having had a quick look at GPUZ last night whilst running FSX the usage seemed to sit quite happily at 3% What a waste.

In short I hope it is everything FSX isn't lol
