The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

I think it was around that price when it was first announced, but they changed it now to a much more acceptable £55.

This is the John Venema's quote on the pricing: 'Yes the price has been announced, but for the sake of communication it is AU$99, or at today's exchange rates - £55 / €68 / US$90'

Yeah, should be great. Global textures in one package at last :D

Just got FlyTampa Dubai; few shots

Nice pictures!

Looks good this. I take it this replaces addons such as UTX Europe, GEX etc?

It basically does the same as GEX as it only replaces the default textures. However, it will not add realistic roads, coastlines etc so you can still use UTX for that.

They will definitely work well together. I was reading through the threads on the Orbx forums and all FTX Global will do is replace the default FSX textures and add night lighting. By using UTX it will still add the realistic roads and coastlines in the right places.

Here is a quote from Orbx's owner:

'You would leave UTX as it is, except disable the "Night Lighting" option in the UTX setup tool; just like we suggest for any other FTX regions. That of course is optional, since you may prefer their brighter lights. UTX will then use the FTX Global textures for its base LC textures and overlay its own custom specific textures like parks, railway yards, golf courses, cemeteries, parking lots etc - on top of FTX Global.'

thats great cheers

Yeah, I'm gonna be using FS Global Ultimate Europe for my mesh > UTX Europe for landclass and vectors (coastlines, roads, rivers, etc) > FTX Global for ground textures and lighting.

With my FTX regions higher in my scenery library so when I fly into a FTX region (only UK at the moment) I will get full Orbx FTX regional goodness.

I hope it all combines well with current stock of European airports as I have pretty much every Aerosoft European airport addon.

Fingers crossed all this together should really enhance my European FSX flying :D

I get confused by all of this! what should the order be in your library? I know airports sit on top what should be next and then next etc?

Come on lets see the photos, credit card used, finger hovering over the enter button! :D

Does this work fine with the likes of FTX Scotland? Do you need to do any tweaks in FTX Central? I can't find any documentation on this as I'm not on their forums.

About 4 topics down look for "FTX Global Update - July 2013 - Hybrid Mode"

http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/portal/

It explains what you need to do with FTX Central.

Here is a summary but read the whole article.

In summary, if you install FTX Global with existing FTX regions, just tick the Hybrid Mode box and never think about switching again. It's that simple.
