The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

As Bluetonic said, always AltSel!

I have done a bit of flying over the weekend, including my first long 'ish' haul from Gatwick to dubai.

How did you r flight back go yesterday Vuvuzela?

It has been a while but here are a few random shots, hope you enjoy the view:

(unedited fsx screen shots):

haha!! :P good that you had ATC though :)

I bought uk2000 gatwick today and im also going to buy ezdock I think as I want the shaking camera!

Do you fancy some DME arc practice tonight? could find an empty airfield on vatsim(I think norwich has an DME arc approach)

Nice one, Gatwick is a great add on. The shaking camera is brill. It just take fsx up another level.

Sounds good. Jeff was doing some DME arc flying yesterday.

Rudimentary internet from home! Woo!

Anyway, Use the 'alt wheel' to select 15000 ft on the PFD. Then click on IAS and use the vertical dial to select the climb speed, eg 170 kts (also shown on the PFD). Then click 'Alt Sel', so those words are displayed on the PFD.

Then when you engage AP, the plane should climb to 15000 ft at 170 kts. Keep an eye on Alt Sel being displayed, otherwise the plane will keep climbing through.

Ah, that was where I was going wrong. I had the alt setup on the PFD but I wasn't using IAS to set a speed before using Alt Sel. I was in full screen and couldn't be bothered to jump out to find out the information at the time.

Next will be flying ILS approaches, I will definitely have to read up on that one.

Default key in FSX for a screenshot is V. It's then saved in My Pictures\Flight Simulator X Files. They are big as they are plain BMP files. Mind you having said that mine are all black since I played with NVidia surround vision.

Today I had a bit of a eureka moment. I've been flying around a bit on FSX and having a bit of fun, but today this happened:

I chose a random airfield, I think it was in British Columbia, and I popped up here:

I thought it looked pretty interesting! So i set off, slowly climbing the mounting on my left in that pic, in a loop.

I popped up over the summit of the mountain...

and was greeted by this.

And it was frickin' sweet!

I was amazed at how good it looked in motion and what a great time I was having. I decided to land in some water before I got too excited and crashed.

Sadly my perfect landing was thawted by one of those damn uphill rivers you read about!

But i landed on the oddly steep downhill river section...

I had a great 20 minute flight with some fantastic scenery in a plane I really get on with. and I'm gonna do it again right now!!!

I've done my first 'proper flight' Southampton Intl to... 'Paris'. But not the "orely?" one. Was nice.

Being a modest chap, I'll say I managed to land ******* brilliantly for a total beginner!

My PC is all set up, but my Broadband installation date is Friday 31st January :(

I'm doing a bit of tethering, so I should be able to connect to Vatsim, but Mumble may be asking too much.

Plus I should be unpacking the boxes in the garage. :o

It's all go on on here at the moment.

Yep I suppose you have more important things to do :( well get back on soon!

Vuvuzela, did you hear FSXGenius ****ging off Vatsim again last night? very poor form I feel
