The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

FSX will only get better if you read through the Kosta guide but it is good to have a base mark to work from.

On a note to my PMDG 777 problem with the autopilot where before the update I could use the Z key of AP button on the MCP to deactivate the AP. It turns out that Z and the AP button on the MCP do not work only clicking the AP button on the yoke with the mouse does. I don't know if this modification was carried out on purpose or not but it was much easier to just double tap the Z key.

Kostas guide just helps to get things balanced out in terms of performance/visuals.

Half the battle with FSX is not becoming a slave to the framerate counter and constant tinkering.

I am myself tempted with P3D.

Generally speaking the in game Ctrl+Z counter.

I stick it on in heavy weather, big airport and tune FSX after an install. Then spend the rest of the time looking at the Ctrl +Z key, like a naughty kid looks at Christmas pressies under the tree. :)

So decided to give in to temptation and took the P3D plunge.

first impressions are good, might take a bit of settings tweaking to find the sweet spot, also in it's default state looks much betterbthan default FSX.

hopefully once REX and FTX etc are installed it will jump to another level.

Ctrl Z got it!

Batfink - You took the plunge eh? You reckon it worth it visually?

(I guess from what picnic said, its not the most friendly in terms of tutorials etc compared to FSX?)

bt - Nice one, thanks, will pick up a copy tomorrow when I pass by HSmiths.

Long story but bought myself a nice shiny new GTX 770 that has had to be RMA'd. During the setup reinstalled windows etc to make sure there wasn't some daft driver conflict.

Couldn't find my FSX discs, so thought hey ho, what better time to give P3D a whirl.

To be completely honest, from what I have seen so far (with my GTX460) I'm not sure it is too different from a well set up copy of FSX.

If I were in your shoes, I'd stick with FSX (you already have a copy right?) for the time being & do the tutorials etc

Out of the box... Yeah P3D wins hands down.

With OrbX scenery visually there's not a lot in it really, but P3D is a lot smoother without any tweaking.

As fort the PDF, I've not seen one. But then the last time I looked at any form of manual for FSX was when it first came out.
