The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Thanks for the recommendation, looks like a good stick.

Tried the Glasgow - London flight again to make sure it wasn't a fluke, while monitoring VAS this time. I'm up at about 3.9gb on approach into London and it did actually touch 4 at one point, whilst getting bings from FSUIPC, but it never crashed. The VAS actually fluctuated downwards at points aswell which I've never seen before in FSX. It's still too close though, so I'm in the process of installing the DX10 fixer now.

Couple of screens from the flight though, this is REX textures with the FSX default (real world static) weather, since ASN doesn't work with the Steam Edition yet. I'm impressed by these, not had FSX running & looking this good before.

If it goes on sale again it's well worth picking up for a couple of quid, I think I paid less than a fiver for it. It's a lot easier to get it running than boxed FSX, literally install it from steam, fix the widescreen aspect in the fsx.cfg, max all the settings and install FTX, FSUIPC, weather engine of choice and payware planes of choice and go flying. I haven't done any tweaking to it whatsoever (outside of NV Inspector) and it runs like a dream.

Even more so with DX10. Using v2.7 of Steve's fixer and I can't believe how well it runs. Consistently <3.5GB Vas usage, and holding 30fps even in the VC of the 777 at a UK2000 airport. I've got a 4670K @ 4.4GHz and a GTX970, so not exactly top of the line kit and it runs perfectly. I'll throw some screenshots up later.

I find that when switching from spot view to virtual cockpit view my frame rate drops by at least 20fps !!

Anyone else experienced this issue?

Is this due to game coding /optimization ?

Hi Guys,

Here is a quick demo of my new Iris Dynamics yoke working with the autopilot following function included with the latest beta version of FSForce.

Using the default Maule in P3Dv2.5

I'll be installing the PMDG NGX (P3D version just released a couple of days ago) after work tonight so I'll get a chance to use the Iris with a more advanced addon aircraft.

^ lovely yoke.

Been away from FSX for quite a while but a few shots from recent flights (unedited just jpeg'd).

A shot using Orbx FTX HD Trees... These work with any scenery, including default, so you do not need any FTX scenery to enjoy them. The extra detail is great if you like skimming the treetops, as I do :D

Running here in Prepar3D 2.5...

Recently got the steam edition of the game and a Thrustmaster t-flight hotas and looking to get back into the game. Lots of cool addons shown off in the thread but are there any that you guys think is a must have?

I mainly tend to fly 737s around Europe when I play and the occasional trip around the east of England in a twin prop.

Will give them a look at. Thanks

Oh and where do you get them from?

I tend to do similar flights with my virtual airline, mostly European short hops.

It really depends how much you're looking to spend. The VFR is a great add-on package if your low and slow but for a 737 probably not the most effectient.

I would look at orbx global base (replaces default textures), Open LC (basically tells fsx where to better use these textures) and orbx vector (enhances roads, bridges, coastlines, rivers etc). Bear in mind this isn't cheap but well worth a look in my opinion. Orbx also have specific areas such as England which is more comparable to the VFR stuff for low and slow.

Also with checking these are compatible with the Steam edition as I use standard fsx.

Nice shots. Liking the orbx trees. How do they affect performance.

The great thing is, they are higher res, and look better, but optimisations to the tree models has reduced the draw calls and therefore keep performance the same or better, depending on set-up and the sim you use..

Personally in FSX I get a reasonable increase of 10-15% but in P3D I get the same as the default Orbx tress, unless I fly in an area of very dense forest, and then I get slightly better fps.
