The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Posting here because the Prepar3d thread died a slow death.

Introducing Prepar3D v3

09-28-15

This Wednesday, September 30th, at 1:00 PM EST Prepar3D v3 will be available for purchase and digital download via the Prepar3D Store. Prepar3D v3 allows developers and users to build and experience advanced simulated training environments using a new slate of features that simplify development and augment the training experience.

Prepar3D v3 further simplifies training scenario creation with major updates to SimDirector, the industry leading simulation courseware creation tool. Prepar3D v3 also welcomes enriched training capabilities by incorporating Autodesk® Scaleform® support, which improves the user interface and expands gauge and panel training capabilities. The new release also features a new avatar mode that enables users to exit their vehicle and experience the simulated environment in first or third person for increased realism and situational awareness.

Prepar3D v3 continues the tradition of being the most affordable high-fidelity visual simulation platform on the market. Many of the features and updates were directly driven by the community and the user base of Prepar3D. We look forward to continuing the conversation and reading your feedback on the Prepar3D Forum. The detailed list of exciting new features and capabilities can be found in the What’s New in v3 Release Notes!

I'll be all over that!!

Struggling here to get FSX boxed edition with both patches running in Win 10. I eventually got the front end UI (menu) to appear but as soon as you try and interact it just freezes up. Was thinking about getting the Steam edition but from comments I've read elsewhere, seems that can be erratic and Dovetail are scratching their heads as to how to make it work.

So at the moment, FSX is a dud, ironically I have got FS9 working albeit just in windowed mode as full screen blacks out the monitor and needs a hard reboot to recover. Seriously thinking about a roll back to Win 7 but that's only a stop gap. At some point in the future when I need a new rig, Win 10 will be the only option and flight simming will be gone the way of the dodo. Hopefully MS or the Dovies can sort out what's wrong but I'm not holding my breath. (Ironically, the much older MS Train Sim works perfectly in Win 10, providing you have Nvidia graphics).

Anyone with experience of the PMDG 777, any idea why I can never select a de-rated (TO -1 or TO -2) takeoff in the FMC? I never seem to have the option, just a blank FMC. I can select a de-rated CLB with no problems, but not takeoff for some reason. Am I making an error somewhere in my pre-flight?

Vern, I just set up FSX SE on Windows 10 and it was a breeze, simply a case of Installing through Steam, changing your options to suit, making 1 change in the cfg (Widescreen), and installing my addons and it works like a dream.

Have you setup the route correctly and selected a runway + sid? I've never had this problem

Have you put in an assumed temperature?

Hmm Ive never come across such a phenomenon though... is this widespread in FSX without the fixer?

EDIT: Any recommendations for SweetFX profiles? Used a few, some non too bad.
