A few fsx bits from me:-

I got the 'alternative' face tracker working using an MS HD WebCam. I've used it with the Cessna 172 and it's good for free, but I'm not quite used to using FSX like that yet.. Well worth a look if Track IRx is on your Xmas list.
I have an MS Office Keyboard and thought it would be nice to use the rollerball as the trim wheel. I could not get it to work in Windows 7. Apparently not supported? Anyone done this? The new Cessna trim wheel addon looks good.
I've been using FS2Crew for my ATR 72 a bit more and think it is really, really good. The procedures really make you think what you're doing and in a 'cold n' dark' cockpit, it will take you 30 mins to get your aircraft ready for push and start. I love the boarding music. My only minor gripe is that you can kill a few procedural birds with one stone with 'hot spots'... which if I had to take command of a real ATR 72 as the pilots had food poisoning, pressing the centre of a dial to turn the landing lights off at 10,000 ft, isn't going to win me any bravery awards.
I've only been on one pathetic test flight in the iFly 737NG and am continuing to read around the subject to get the most out of it. Eg Autopilot may disconnect due to any slight movement on the joystick.
I had my first virual flight lesson in a 172 from the CIX VFR Club. We used Gamespy and shared a cockpit. It was interesting and very good of him to give up his time for me. His tuition differed from the Flying School 2011 tutor for circuits though. My next lesson is this week.
They have virtual air display team and Tuesday nights is a weekly VFR flight of which the two I've attended have been really enjoyable. To participate, you need to join the forum, download a certain version of TeamSpeak and be online when they are.
I purchased Av-soft FSX EFB and have used it well with VATSIM. The current trick is to file a flight plan online BEFORE using the flight planner in EFB, otherwise it will submit a new flight plan when the route is changed, eg adding a SID.
I'm still preparing myself for the VATSIM open skies event.
That's about it for now.
