The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Can someone point me in the right direction for some mods/new planes/scenery etc??

I don't really wanna trundle through this whole thread :)

Thanks

Real Environment Xtreme II is a must for FSX - Payware

If you have an ATI card, do a search for Jesus Shader 3 Mod (free)

enb series also seems popular (free)

Take a peek at Uk2000 Scenery, they're are payware airports (excellent) aswell as dumbed down free ones and demo ones.

Planes - Can't beat the PMDG's if you want an indepth, Sim. Large jet type aircraft.

Also take a look at Iris simulations if you like military planes, they have released some of their older planes as freeware (grap the Texan II)

So after a wonderful summer of outdoor activities. Time for my winter hibernation has once again returned.

Finally, after what has seemed a lifetime I have the PMDG 737NGX! My God is was worth the wait.

Having spent a bit more time at home, I decided to have a tinker and came up with my first ever Youtube vid. http://youtu.be/NINfm7p5R30 thought I would share it here.

For Kerplunk the addon's in the video are:

Ground Environment X - Europe
Ultimate Terrain X - Europe
UK2000 Gatwick Xtreme
PMDG 737NGX
REX2

Thats a good video you made there Batfink1892 nice a smooth, some in plane chatter added would be really good, but it all costs money.
Your GTX460 1gb held up well.

Now then, currently doing my return flight from LOWS - EGKK...

Oh how i do love the NGX! :)

Recognised your video from the other forum. NGX is an absolute beauty. I still need to iron out my FSX config before doing much more flying. Your setup seems to run so smooth.

I'm wondering is there something not right in my overclock that could be causing slight jutters? It is smooth but something just isn't right.

Mine used to suffer with little stutters and thought my Overclock may have been the issue. tried with HT off/on and that appeared to make no difference. Rolled it back to stock, and there was a drop in FPS but was much the same.

Swapped FSX from Raptor to M4 SSD and it was still a little jittery, installed
W7 64bit and did a clean install of everything (at stock clock on CPU) and it has been smooth ever since 30fps at EGKK up to about 70fps at alt.

added a few lines to .cfg but only the basics like highmem fix and TBM set to 70 etc. Bufferpools set to 0 just caused me lots of suddenly growing giant trees so got rid.

I have an i5 750 @ 4Ghz, 560Ti and a fresh install on an SSD with NickN's guide followed and using the venotubo site tweaks. I'm not sure what else could be causing the problems but your video is just something else. It looks silky smooth when starting the takeoff roll.

Did you not use the affinity mask tweak or anything like that?

Nope no affinity mask added, that one never seems to help me at all.

I also found the auto tweak tool actually makes things worse for me (Which I am gutted about, would have saved hours in the .cfg tweaking like a good un)

Have you tried the FS-GS service? Or do you find it can be a little 'forceful' when challenged? ;)

I was probably one of the folks who was giving out about his attitude so no I haven't went near him.

I'm going to have a play here without affinity and bufferpools and see what happens. I hate tweaking - I just want it to work!

Nice looking 767 - is that the Captain Sim one?

I've got the CS 757 - seriously has to be my favourite plane to fly, though the IRIS Vulcan is lovely, if a little hard work. Might have to dust it off and have a spin later.

Cheers,

Rich

P.S. Great looking Vid by the way!

Nice pics Ringo, looking very good. I've officially given up on FSX 'til I get a PC upgrade! The final straw was landing through thick low cloud (whilst online!) it suddenly started lagging very badly through the clouds and next thing I know I've crashed - queue big rage quit. Not loaded it since...

I see the demo of Xplane 10 is out. Don't bother with the direct download their servers can't cope but the torrent came down in under 2 hours for me. 3.37GB in size.

Not had much time to try XP10 this evening.

For me the jury is still out. Often the views are really good, get low and slow and there are some nice road networks with believable 3D houses lining them, street lights and even some street signs. But then it's let down by overhead electricity pylons with their bases in the middle of the road (same on railway lines) There are places where the road will climb 100ft in 10. The lorries and cars seem to be able to negotiate the incline but it doesn't fit my idea of plausible.

I've only tried the 172 and it looks pretty good and, from a novice POV, seems to fly well.

I've tried ramping up various rendering settings and my poor little PC starts to struggle a bit. Poor frame rates and some stutters, one as long as 8 seconds! Loading times are no better than FSX either. Generally CPU doesn't seemed to be overstressed so maybe the 460GTX cards are the limiting factor.

Sadly the demo disables joystick input after 10 mins making hard to evaluate for longer periods. I'm hoping this is a beta and the simulation will be improved on before the real release.

It does need much more hands on time to get a real feel for it, the basis of the flight model should leave FSX standing but obvious errors in the scenery rendering detract from what is potentially a very good GA, low and slow, simming experience.
