The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Anyone in the Beta for the VRS Tacpack? Might invest in it, never owned FSX though, only play sims as DCS: A-10C, F4 BMS etc, so I would have to buy FSX/VRS F-18/Tacpack and scenery so the game doesn't look horrible. Would it be worth it?

Trying out the choppers!

Lost for words how you guys get your scenery so good.:( I've tried so much and still cant get it looking like that? I want to buy Ftx NZ South Island but it's going to be a waste.

Is it my ati card, running a 6970

Service pack 2 is this from the FSX website?

Here is the A2A Spitfire high above Llanddulas on the North Wales coast.

Don't fret. The scenery makers should have a standard config that you can use for the best effect from the scenery.

Also, the JustFlight VFR Real Scenery looks best looking down at it from an angle. The OrbX stuff looks good from whereever.

Also don't forget - different fsx configs for different styled flights. Once you've got your fsx config optimally tweaked. Then experiment.

Lovely - how do you do that?? (with the two/simultaneous aircraft?).

Rich

Using FSRecorder to duplicate my flight, could have also used other methods but that is easiest IMO.

Finally got the hang of the Jet aircraft, was getting overstressed as i was going too fast on takeoff duh!

Any suggestions for good freeware mods?

Plenty in this thread. NL2000v4, Blue Sky Scenery, libraries at AVSIM & Flightsim com etc.

Anyone with nVidia card try running the new 301.24 beta drivers? I have them installed and have used the new vSync settings as specified by Kosta over at avsim and it appears to get rid of the microstutter problems I have been having since building my new pc two years ago. It is most noticeable when looking out of the wing view on the NGX. The ground always appeared to 'jump' along below.

Obviously I would need to try it for longer to see how it goes but initial impressions are very good. This might get me back into FSX again as I was beginning to lose interest.

Let us know how you get on with that vSync thing, might try it myself if it show real improvement.

In the meantime, here are some more random shots, enjoy:

The scenery in this thread has inspired me to give FSX another try. I ended up uninstalling it after a corrupt install/reinstall, and being told that my code could not be authorised online.

If I was to install it, most of my flying would be over the UK. Could anybody recommend the best freeware scenery/addons for the UK region? Most of my flying will be between 5000-25000ft.

Thanks guys.

I have the gold edition and would love to reinstall it at some point this year as I have a much better rig now. I was getting sub 10 fps over cities with my old rig with no traffic at all.

I ended up getting frustrated though (I am a total novice) as my elevator trim was not seeming to work as it should. I would press it up one small tap and I would be climbing, I would go one small tap down and I would be descending, it was like the elevator trim setting was not sensitive enough, is there a setting for that?

The instructor kept getting annoyed with me and when I flew alone the ATC always went on at me for not being flying at the designated level because I could not fly straight. With that and the low fps I just uninstalled and that was late 2010.

Looking at the pictures in the this thread though I am getting the urge to try it again. A full scenery and weather modded game with fs passengers installed sounds like great fun.

This aswell for me! I'm sorry but athough the payware may be of a very high quality, no other game/sim charges this much for textures IMO, and there must be some freeware textures out there for the UK!

1. Don't try and fret about FPS. In this game, It's doesn't matter getting 6-10 FPS if you're 36000 ft up. I've said it 20 times you need different configs for different styled flights on a non-Soya PCs. Look at my Ryanair Pic. Bristol airport is in the background the landscape looks blurred. I'm not bothered as minutes later I'll be high up and not see detail anyway. This is the ifly 737 and intensive to CPU usage.

In the second pic, it's a default plane with VFR scenery. Settings and CPU can go in favour of the scenery.

2.Elevator trim..
Sometimes it easy to do in a 'virtual cockpit', use the cursor on the elevator trim in a Cessna 152 for example and then use the mouse wheel up and down to set the trim. Also have a look at your settings for this. Or buy a 'USB Cessna Wheel Trim'.

Keep persevering. It's a very rewarding thing to do. ILS Landings. GA airfield circuits etc etc.
