The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

It's not just me then, I looked that the pics on page 1 and thought wow. Still look awesome to me, but then I'm not exactly known for my observational skills.

Thanks guys, your feedback has made me come to the conclusion the problem is at my end and after doing several checks I discovered what the problem was. For some reason (don't know why but I think it must have been during a recent windows update) my desktop colour quality was down to 16-bit, so every screen shot I was viewing with gradual colour change (like blue skies) looked horrendous. I just switched back to 32-bit, restarted my browser and all my screen shot look the way they suppose to, thank god. I thought for a moment Photobucket recompressed ALL my screen shots to look like that, which would have been months of work down the drain and all my screen shot posts would have looked awful.

So if you wanted to see what I was going on about, change your desktop settings to 16-bit colour mode, restart your browser, then take a look at my screen shots, especially the one with the 2 Tiger moths shown above, the sky look terrible in 16-bit mode.

Anyhow, that is a load of my mind, appreciate your help guys.

Now that I sorted out the problem with my screen shots, I uploaded these unedited shots showing off Airbus X by Aerosoft, enjoy:

Lovely shots, as always Soya.

The Aerosoft Airbus X is a favourite of mine (though not installed at the moment due to a few too many CTDs) - I'll be intrigued to see what improvements actually occur if they do release the 'Extended' version. The FBW needs tidying up to be honest, and a more functional FMC would be a bonus.

have you used any of Holgi's repaints? Really impressive efforts (particularly like his 'dirty' BA A321) - I've recently spoken to him about doing a 737-900 in the same vein - I reckon it'll look great judging by his other 737 efforts.

Glad that you solved your picture issues! Keep those sterling efforts coming..

Cheers,

Rich

Lovely shots, as always Soya.

Cheers and thanks for the tip, just checked AS downloads and took most popular Holgi liveries, will install soon and check them out.

Also, I am started to get very interest in Prepar3D, hearing some good things about it. For now, I will wait and see how it comes along, it recently updated to version 1.3 (looks like they are committed to continuous development & support on the engine), I will probably wait till 2.0 before possibly making a commitment into taking a licence. Main issues would be, will most FSX bought addons port over to Prepar3D, as basically it is FSX but more developed and enchanced, if so, will it cost anything to port over the majority of my addons, don't fancy doshing out another butt load of money for things I already have paid for one sim just to pay again to have it work in another sim. And of course, how much better will it be then FSX, atm from what I have read, it is @10% faster, definitely smoother flying, better interface, more control over settings and setup, better support and working under DX10, maybe even DX11 in the future, and is more stable (apparently) then FSX.

Still early days, but I suggest all who are into FSX to look out for this, anyone who is thinking about flight sim and leans towards trying out FSX, I would recommend highly to look at Prepar3D as well.

Good news for us, I hope.

-> a good thread on explaining about Prepar3D & licencing etc http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/53662-can-someone-explain-prepar3d-a-little-to-me/ also check their homepage at Prepar3D for more info.

I tried P3D for a month on the Computer Pilot trial before Christmas. I installed the PNW demo inc Bowerman and did similar flights in FSX and P3D. There was a reduction in pop up for me with 3D objects but I didn't really see a frame rate improvement.

However being it was the run up to Christmas time was limited and I didn't really get a chance to tweak / meddle with P3D as I would have liked. Also the thought of paying best part of $300AU for getting my Orbx scenery to run in it was a big negative. That barrier has now been removed, well sort of. It's unclear to me what happens with new products starting with Swanson as they are selling 4 versions, download/DVD editions for FSX or P3D and they stated their migration tool will only work with products released up to the end of 2011.

The other downer for me is I'm a member of the Bristol Flight Sim group and we run our own FSD multiplayer server. FSInn did not work for me and SB4 sad the server was too old. I believe SB4 can be made to work for VATSIM.

Just seen on the Orbx forum that the migrator tool for FSX->P3D will be continually updated to support all their products until P3D V2.

This tool will also be updated through 2012 to include all new releases up until P3D version 2. In other words, Orbx will provide the ability to run all our products on both FSX and P3D until P3D V2.0 is release, at which time we will determine the best solution for our customers.

Greetings folks, here is a small batch of screen shots which was taken from my recent video 737 NGX Landing at Tamworth. I tried to show off the beauty of the aircraft, livery and scenery. The link to the video is after the screen shots for those interested.

Enjoy;

MY computer keeps running out of memory for FSX apparently :(

I've turned down the settings and it's fine, but if i fly in anything but "fair weather" the game crashes, usually just before landing.

Any ideas?

I have 16gb RAM
