As CSR3 isn't going to GEO transfer orbit, it will be trying for a soft touch down on water again. However this time, its going to be flying with landing legs for the first time.

Exciting times, hopefully they learnt lots of info from the first failed attempt, where apparently the craft went in to a spin and engines were fuel starved.
 
All four landing legs have been mounted onto Falcon 9 in advance of next month’s launch.

They estimate the success for a soft touch down on water at 30-40% this time around.
In comparison their first attempt which failed was predicted at just 10%, it failed when the fuel centrifuged and shut down the engines as they weren't expect so much force in that direction and the baffles failed to contain it.
 
Wow, watching the DOD appropriations subcommity. Wow the US tax payer is getting ripped off. 380m per ULA launch and a guaranteed $1billion a year even if they dont order any rockets.
In comparison falcon 9 launch would be under $100million. Which means you could pay for a SpaceX launch and the GPS satellite for less than the ULA launch on its own.

On top off that ULA rockets aren't even entirely USA made, for example they use Russian main engines.
 
Lol, tough question for ULA, what's the security for the engines with Russias current Adventurism in Crimea.

Now onto their +account. Basically billions off extra costs. Launch support, grants etc. which spaced say they dint need and tbh they don't, they're launching falcons without government hangouts.'

There defence. It was needed when we started, fine but how decades ago was that, So what about now?

They dint think small do they. I wonder when we will see a Raptor engine test fire. Apparently the upgrades to the test facility are almost complete.

FalconX and FalconXX are just ******* massive and yet again begs the question why USA is wasting money on SLS, yes it'll come on line before FalconX but will be so expensive will only fly a handful of times, would be better up splitting the load in two and using the falcon Heavies at a massively cheaper launch cost, let alone design cost.
