Rosetta takes another amazing image:

c93qTeO.jpg

This single frame Rosetta navigation camera image was taken from a distance of 124 km from the centre of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko on 6 February 2015. The 1024 x 1024 pixel image frame has a resolution of 10.6 m/pixel and measures 10.8 km across. The image is processed to bring out the details of the comet's activity.

The image is the first single frame image capturing the entire comet nucleus since leaving bound orbits last week.

:(

SpaceX is still tracking towards a 6:03pm ET liftoff of DSCOVR, but unfortunately we will not be able to attempt to recover the first stage of the Falcon 9. The drone ship was designed to operate in all but the most extreme weather. We are experiencing just such weather in the Atlantic with waves reaching up to three stories in height crashing over the decks. Also, only three of the drone ship’s four engines are functioning, making station-keeping in the face of such wave action extremely difficult. The rocket will still attempt a soft landing in the water through the storm (producing valuable landing data), but survival is highly unlikely.

Lovely launch. Sunset launches are always great.

And rocket softlanded, within 10m accuracy and near vertical. Elon said if the drone ship was there, it would have been a good chance of successful' landing.

Rocket soft landed in the ocean within 10m of target & nicely vertical! High probability of good droneship landing in non-stormy weather.

He's also announced Drone ship will undergo extensive upgrades.

Planning a significant upgrade of the droneship for future missions to handle literally anything. Maybe give it a Merlin for good measure :)
