** The Official Space Flight Thread - The Space Station and Beyond **

IFT-5 possibly this weekend/early next week. Road closures and Notice to Mariners in. Elon has been posting. All seemingly in defiance of FAA's no certification before end of Nov. Preparation of tank farm has also begun. Seems plan is still to attempt catch if all systems are nominal on return.
Lots of chatter that NASA may take over licensing of space flight. Nothing confirmed as yet, however SpaceX clearly know more about the situation than joe public. Seems silly to fully commit to a launch that apparently wont be licensed for over a month.

^ Just started watching this!

I'm still a little confused at the launch licensing of all of this. Some reports state FAA provide the launch license for all rocket launches (but have not for this launch?!), while others now state NASA overruled or simply taken over the licensing process for this specific launch?!

Either way; fun times hopefully at lunch time.

Watching the build up this morning. Getting excited, really hope the give the catch a chance!

PSA - There are a LOT of fake accounts on YouTube claiming to be SpaceX, SpaceX havnt been showing on YT for ages. Remember, If it aint got a tick, dont give it a click!

I'll probably jump between Everyday Astronaut and NSF. I tend to prefer Tims coverage, usually has better angles especially when he's in location for the launches, but he has a tendency to waffle on at times, but I do love his passion for it. NSF tends to have slightly better "commentary".

Whilst we are waiting...

Ladies and Gentlemen the time has come to answer one of humanities most important questions, what happens when a 71m x 9m tank filled with a little bit of fuel hit a tower at the speed of sound?

Should be a good show what ever happens

I'd rather see a catch attempt that fails than a complete abort to water landing. Will be exciting regardless. They must be confident to attempt considering they havnt even finished building tower 2. Thats a lot of potential damage to the site if it fails. But hey... Gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette.
